Ecovacs Deebot as no.1 (best buy guide) - but with which app?

Hi,

The best buy guide for vacuum robots has Ecovacs Deebot listed as no.1, see Best buy guide vacuum robots

I have a Deebot OMNI T30 Pro for 1,5 years and ever since there were outdated community apps for Homey integration. Using Home Assistant as a bridge is also a hassle. Essentially nothing of that really works..

So I really wonder, how the Homey team can recommend the Ecovacs Deebot X5 OMNI if there is no updated app for that? Did I miss something???

Would appreciate any useful information regarding stable and flawless integration of Deebots into Homey
Thank you!

Kind regards, Matthaeus

Hi,

I love my Deebot T80 Omni.

I also tried HA integration and Homey standard Matter device. Not really good.

And I tried to take over the Deebot app. But that’s a nightmare. Ecovacs is using Mqtt in the background, but every dehice seems to have own Mqtt topics, events and data fields. There is no API description. The app uses a npm module that does the Mqtt and API handling. But… it would need to debug all Mqtt fields used for the specific device. Then it would need to adapt the module (fork+pull request)…

I tried but didn’t found the needed topics in the whole Mqtt traffic :see_no_evil_monkey:

So at the current state, the Homey app will never support the newer Deebots :man_shrugging:

About the why is it recommended anyways, you’d discuss with Athom: https://homey.app/support

Good hint, @Peter_Kawa ! I just sent a support request to see whether they have an answer to that.

@RonnyW that sounds very nerve wracking, thanks for the insights. It seems to be very unfortunate for us who own a Deebot..

Once I have a reply from Athom, I will post it here. Let’s see if there is something useful for all of us

Good to note that the list isn’t ranked! The first device isn’t equal to the one we recommend the most.

I’ve forwarded the feedback internally, @Boterham will get back to you

You might be able to use Google automations and Homey virtual devices as a workaround. I used it to integrate my Tapo RV30 Max Plus robot vacuum, but note that the functiona for vacuums are pretty limited in Google (only start/stop/dock). If Deebot supports “Scenes” in Google Home, you might be able to use more functions.

For now, the generic Matter device for vacuum robots would be ok to use. As a downside, you have to start cleasimg by selecting the cleaning mode from the mode list.

How do I know whether my robot has Matter compatibility?

if it has matter, you have a corresponding item in the app in parameter

Device settings in Deebot app:

Based on Google KI the T30 should support Matter :crossed_fingers:

Well, in my iPhone app Ecovacs Home I cannot find anything about Matter. Since my Google search was not showing anything positive, I guess I am stuck here with not being able to connect my T30 Pro into Homey

Also, Athom responded but basically with what has been said before about Matter connectivity, nothing more. Ah, and very funny: they updated the vacuum robot best buy guide - and remove the Deebot X5 OMNI

Well, thanks anyways, topic can be closed.

Too bad, then Google was wrong. It seems Matter is only supported on T50 and newer models.

But if it’s an older device, doesn’t Homey app work? I assumed that Ecovacs used different Mqtt topics for T80 and similar.

No, the old ones, which are deprecated, made problems. I have to check again, I dismissed it for quite a while..
