Beginners question about advanced flow computations

I don’t understand how I can simply increment a variable. Any computation sets it to NaN. I understood that has to do with the sequence in which computations take place. But I really don’t understand how I should do it correctly. Please see my example computation and corresponding logging. I would appreciate a solution very much!

You have to give it an initial value like 0.
