[APP] Tuya - Smart Life. Smart Living

I might be missing something obvious here, but it looks like any developer who wants to contribute meaningfully would need clear guidance on how and where to obtain the values used for the dummy data in env.json.dist.

Is this information documented somewhere else, such as an external guide or set of instructions? If so, a pointer would be really helpful. If not, it feels like a small developer.readme in the repo could save a lot of time and guesswork for contributors.

I’m asking mainly from a developer experience perspective. Without this context, it’s quite hard for someone other than the original author to build and test the app, which seems at odds with the otherwise high bar set by the Homey guidelines.

Apologies if this comes across as critical that’s not the intent. It’s just a bit frustrating when the fix feels relatively simple and would make contributing much smoother for everyone.

You could use them from the regular app if you have an Homey SHS set up. Just install the app from the app store, go to your .homey-shs folder, AFAIK then it is ./userdata/apps/env.json

And then you can view the source and .env of all apps (even those that aren’t open source)

Thanks for the tip - annoying that I’d have to go to that much trouble, and that a guide isn’t provided to explain how to obtain the needed credentials in the repo (would it be that difficult to add).

The fan code/logic is all wrong for my type of Tuya Fans and it all seems fairly easy to fix up and correct, and would be happy to contribute the corrections so that the existing fans (and the Tuya Fan I have all works) - but right now the Tuya app doesn’t work at all for the Fans I have … so that’s sad :frowning:

My Tuya devices started playing up around Xmas 25. I have reinstalled app and still playing up. The devices took a while to install. Sometimes they were available and sometimes not. Now that I have introduced the ceiling fans, one doesn’t have light function. But using Tuya cloud, I can turn on and off the light, just not through this Tuya app. Everything works well using the Tuya iPhone app. Just not through homey. The Tuya cloud app and the Tuya app show similar symptoms. Turn on fan takes multiple times but eventually works. Same with light. They randomly have exclamation marks on them, thinking it is network issues. But all other non Tuya items work fine. Not sure what else to try.

I’ve already emailed support, but I’m curious if more people are getting the error: ‘Tuya error: Command or value unsupported’ when trying to set the value of the dehumidifier. I also have a cat feeder, but I can’t add it as ‘other’ in the app, even though it could be added in the old app.

Just wanted to ask if the IR Scenes are working or only working for a few devices, i have some IR scenes that i kind’a need to operate my homcom a/c and a few ir remotes for audio equipment that i used IR-learning with the original remotes, Any recommendations of a good replacement to use for now or a way to get them working would be appreciated

Hello.

First i want to thank you for your app.
I bought 2 face recognition access panel from aliexpress that works with your app.
but there are 2 commands that has been picked up by home assistant that would be nice if it is included. That is:
},
“open_closedoor”: {
“type”: “Boolean”,
“value”: {},
“property_update”: true,
“accessMode”: “rw”,
“dpId”: 104
},

and

Thanks again.

I have a single room ventilator (Arida Venti 160 WiFi) connected to the SmartLife app, and noticed now that I can connect to this via this app in Homey. I can connect is as a fan in Homey, but then with quite limited functions. Only on/off and setting fan speed (1 - 3).

This ventilator works as a heat recovery unit that blows air in for an amount of time, and then turns direction on the fan so it works as an exhaust. Then there is an heating element in the fan that stores some of the temperature from the indoor air. And when the direction turns again the outdoor air that blows in gets heated up from the heating element. You can also set the direction to only blow in, or only out. Also it has a CO2 sensor, and some more functions.

Is it possible to add support for this device so you can set the functions directly from Homey? Link to product under (norwegian site).

2 probleems/bugs.

  1. I have to login/pair my devices with the SmartLife app through the QR code scanner too often. After an average of 42 hours its required again.

  2. the measurementvalues of used power (W) of my power plugs are a tenfold (=*10) then the measurements of the Tuya Cloud community app for Homey Pro. And these values are really more likely accurate. Look below at my electricity plugs 17. & 18

Best if you report bugs directly to the devoping agency (Denso), as requested by them. Check their contact email address in the first post.

How did you add the devices? Homey and SmartThings are 2 separate systems, and unless you added the Tuya devices to Homey via SmartThings, it shouldn’t cause issues with Homey

@smarthomesven Sorry :My bad mistake. I meant SmartLife ((Tuya) phone) app. I corrected it. :person_facepalming:t2:

Multiple (WiFi) devices are not supported yet, if they can be added, that would be great :grinning_face:

Looking at adding my heat pump to Homey. Looks like it is not implemented yet but on the requested list. (Power World DC Air/Water Heatpump)

Is there anything I can expect when it will be implemented other than “soon”?

I’ve got this device

I see that the app support presence sensor, but I’ve been trying to add this device with this app and it can’t find it.

Is there only a specific version supported?

Thanks

Do you have a Tuya ZigBee or MultiMode gateway? That gateway is required to use the device with this app.

I do, but this device is Wi-Fi

The ZigBee ones work with homey with this tuya app?

You can also add it as an Unknown device. Then you can use the “Parameter gets a new value” trigger Flow cards to receive the data.

Yes, as long as you have them connected to a Tuya Zigbee or MultiMode gateway.

And you can also see luminance values on homey?

Would you be able to tell me the specific model you’ve got?
