[APP TEST] Energy Flow – A visual energy dashboard for Homey Pro ⚡

[APP TEST] Energy Flow – A visual energy dashboard for Homey Pro :high_voltage::house:

Hi everyone!

I’m currently developing Energy Flow, a new dashboard app for Homey Pro that brings your home’s energy consumption and production together in one modern, interactive dashboard.

The goal is to make energy monitoring more visual, intuitive and easy to understand.

Energy Flow features an animated house that visualizes energy flows between your electricity grid, solar panels, home battery and other connected energy devices.

:high_voltage: Current features

  • Live electricity consumption and grid export
  • Solar production, supporting up to three solar devices
  • Gas and water monitoring
  • Home battery charging and discharging
  • EV charger monitoring
  • Interactive energy details and charts
  • Today, Week, Month and Year views
  • Six customizable dashboard layouts
  • Responsive design for phones, tablets and larger screens
  • Light and dark themes
  • English and Dutch language support

:test_tube: Try Energy Flow!

The test version is available here:

You can install it directly on your compatible Homey Pro and add the Energy Flow widget to your Homey Dashboard.

This is still a development version, so some features may not work perfectly yet.

Historical energy data is currently limited. Some values are based on locally observed meter changes rather than complete Homey Energy history.

:wrench: Coming in version 0.3.1

Thanks to the first community feedback, I’m working on:

1. Improved gas consumption display

Showing today’s actual gas consumption instead of the cumulative meter reading, whenever reliable data is available.

2. Multiple home battery support

Supporting up to three home batteries, including combined charging/discharging power and individual battery information.

:speech_balloon: Looking for testers and feedback!

I’d love to hear how Energy Flow works with different Homey setups.

Especially interested in feedback from users with:

  • Different P1 smart meters
  • Gas and water meters
  • Multiple solar inverters
  • Home batteries
  • EV chargers

Please share which devices you use, whether the measurements are correct, and how the dashboard looks on your phone, tablet or computer.

Screenshots, bug reports and feature suggestions are very welcome!

Thanks for testing and helping improve Energy Flow! :raising_hands:

I’ll share further updates in this topic as development continues.

Hello,

Thank you for making this app, this is exactly what I’ve been looking for!

Everything works great so far with my Tibber Pulse, Sigenergy solar inverter, Sigenstor battery and Zaptec Go EV charger.

Howerver, I have two visual requests:

  1. For Electricity, I’d like to be able to see Exported electricity as well, not only imported. Same thing goes for battery: I want to see discharge, not only charge. I made a mockup below that reflects the requested changes, and that also puts them on separate rows (Solar and EV charger follows the same standard in the mockup for consistency).
  2. Could you make it an option to remove the “Energy flow” in the top left corner to avoid having the same words stacked on top of each other?

Very good job on creating this app!

:high_voltage: Energy Flow v0.3.6 – Major updates, new features & community feedback!

Hi everyone! :waving_hand:

I’ve been working on several improvements to Energy Flow, my interactive energy dashboard app for Homey Pro.

Version 0.3.6 brings together all the improvements from previous test versions, along with some great suggestions from the community.

:new_button: Latest improvements – v0.3.6

A special thanks to Hass, who tested Energy Flow with his Tibber Pulse, Sigenergy inverter, home battery and Zaptec EV charger!

Based on his feedback:

  • :high_voltage: Grid electricity: Clearer separation between grid import and export.
  • :battery: Home batteries: Separate charging and discharging values, including support for multiple batteries.
  • :sun: Solar & EV charging: Consistent energy flow information across different sources.
  • :artist_palette: Dashboard customization: New option to hide the small “ENERGY FLOW” label above the main title.

Values are only displayed when reliable measurements are available.

:bar_chart: Energy history improvements

Previous updates also introduced:

  • Correct daily gas consumption instead of the cumulative meter reading.
  • Gas consumption displayed with three decimal places.
  • Historical grid import, export and solar production from official Homey Energy reports.
  • Four selectable periods: Today, Week, Month and Year.
  • Clear identification of partial or unavailable historical data.
  • Cumulative meter readings available in the detailed views.

:house: Dashboard improvements

Energy Flow also includes:

  • An animated house showing live energy flows.
  • Support for up to three solar sources.
  • Support for up to three home batteries.
  • Optional gas, water and EV charger integration.
  • Six responsive dashboard layouts.
  • Light and dark themes.
  • Improved mobile and tablet layouts.
  • More compact energy summaries with less repeated information.
  • Updated app artwork and widget previews.

Energy Flow is read-only and does not require HomeyScript or an external cloud service.

:test_tube: Test Energy Flow v0.3.6

I’d love to hear how Energy Flow performs with your devices!

Please share your Homey setup, screenshots, suggestions or any issues you encounter.

Thank you to everyone who has helped test and improve Energy Flow. Your feedback really makes a difference! :raising_hands:

@Hass

This was exactly the energy widget app I’ve been looking for for a long time! It looks amazing!

I only have one issue with the readability and layout. I’m using a 9th-generation iPad (which is still fairly large), but I can’t fit the entire widget on the screen. See attached photo. Would it be possible to adjust this?

At the moment, “Grid consumption” appears twice under electricity, and the same goes for battery discharging. Also, under solar panels, it now shows “Meter available” after sunset. I suspect this should actually indicate that no meter reading is available, as my APsystems inverter stops reporting a value after sunset and displays a dash (-) instead, which presumably cannot be read correctly.

As a possible improvement, would it also be possible to hide the “Now” and “Time” sections, or perhaps add a scaling option to resize the widget?

These are just a few suggestions, and I hope they’re helpful. I’m really looking forward to seeing the end result!
