[APP][Pro] Widgetkeeper - dashboards in your browser + custom widgets

Sounds like a very nice solution that applies consistently to the various widget types :+1:.

:test_tube: Version 1.0.0 so far

Note: Not released yet - I’ll keep it a bit open to ensure that 1.0.0 will be good.

Changes/additions so far:

Spacer: an empty widget of the height you set, to line up columns.

Charts:
Any value Homey logs in Insights, as a line, an area or bars over 1 hour to 7 days. One chart, two stacked, or two values on one chart with a scale each.

Notes:
A short message on a tile, or a handwritten Post-it on the dashboard. Type it in the settings, or let a Flow write it.

Tile renaming
Turn on Rename tiles, type the names right on the tiles, and turn it off again. Works in every widget with device tiles, also for lights and curtains grouped by room.

Rename tiles

Other changes:

  • Light Controls: the room’s Homey Moods as a palette, and tiles that show every colour their lights shine in.
  • Media: a large layout with full-width album art.
  • Curtains: blinds that are open at 50%, and tilt-only blinds such as SwitchBot Blind Tilt.
  • Variables: lowest and highest numbers, and a read-only mode that needs no API key.
  • Cameras: live view tries the camera’s other streams when one won’t play (such as 4K H.265).
  • 15-minute electricity prices, where Homey Energy has them.
  • Presence sensors in Activity Dots and Sensor Alarms.
  • Clearer names: Price Badge, Thermostat Shortcuts, Sensor Dots and Flow Variables are now Energy Price Strip, Thermostat Presets, Activity Dots and Variables. Widgets already on your dashboards keep working.

Version 1.0.0 is shaping up to be a real beast of an app… One app to rule them all! :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Please can I ask that Vibration sensors also be included in the activity dots… if you’re using them as a security widget on your dashboard to see where activity is, they should include all types of security sensors, PIR motion, mmWave presence, contact sensors, and vibration sensors. My Aqara vibration sensors (Product ID: lumi.vibration.aq1) don’t show up in the selection settings for Activity Dots.

For the Web Dashboard, which permissions do I need to assign to the API key?

My current API key that I use in the mobile app for the widgets has permissions for variables and flows. But the Web Dashboard does not accept that key.

Sure - will do that.

Thanks for the additional guidance .

I really like the device values widget: it’s very compact, yet it communicates a lot. I don’t know the answer myself, but I’m wondering whether it would be possible to show multiple values from the same device in a single tile.

For example: I have several soil moisture sensors that also measure fertility/fertilization levels. I’d love to show both values in the same tile, since they both describe the same device. Needing two separate tiles for that would be a waste of screen real estate.

The Device Values widget being mentioned reminded me… would it be possible to make the yellow more yellowy, and the orange more orangey… at present the yellow is more mustard, and the orange looks more :poop: brown than orange. The other colours are great, very coloury, it’s just those two, and at a glance it’s not very obvious which is showing on some displays, unless they are next to each other.

It’s very minor and nit-picky I know… but if you can do anything about it would super appreciate it. Thank you

First of all, I’d like to compliment you on the Widgetkeeper—I’m really happy with it! I also have a question, and I’m hoping you might be able to help me out (or perhaps not).

When you add three webcams to the cam widget, it always displays two small images at the top and one large image below them. Is it possible to have one large image at the top, with the two smaller images underneath?

Also, I have one other quick question—again, related to the webcams. When you click on a camera image, it expands to show a larger, live view. Is it possible to keep that live view visible for longer? Currently, it eventually shrinks back down to the smaller, static image. I would prefer it to remain in the live view mode.

Uhhh, are you still following me?

I’ve put together an example. This is how it looks currently:

And this is what I mean:

I noted the following regarding the Media widget: the widget allows you to add a number of buttons/shortcuts to flow or device/speaker actions THEN-flowcards or flows. However it does not provide an option to select app flowcards.

I would like to add a shortcut to the ‘scan music libary’ option the Sonos LocalAPI app provides. However, this is not a (specific) device/speaker flowcard, but an overall app flowcard.

Would it be possible for you to also make available the speaker app flowcards/actions?

Thanks for looking into it! My lock is connected directly through Matter, so there’s no manufacturer app involved. I checked the device capabilities in Homey, and it exposes open_lock separately from locked. There’s also an open_lock Flow action explicitly described as pulling the latch and opening the door.

Could the widget check whether a device supports open_lock and show an additional “Open door” button when available? I understand other integrations handle this differently, but this could cover locks that expose this capability.

yeah it does - but it looks terrible  you can’t have proper icons for each room…

First, thank you! This app is amazing!

I have a small feature request: a widget that displays variables only while they’re true and hides them when they’re false.

For example, in my home I have variables for when appliances are running, or when it’s trash or recycling day. I’d love a widget that alerts me with messages like “It’s trash day today” or “The dishwasher has finished.” Tapping an alert would dismiss it by setting the variable to false, so it disappears from the widget.

I could do something similar by creating virtual devices that control the variables, but the visual feedback is the selling point. I’m imagining a colored square with an icon and/or text inside, one per active variable.

I could also use the Notes feature coming in 1.0.0, if users will be able to interact with them (tap to dismiss, trigger a flow on dismissal, customize the style). Still, I think driving this directly from variables is a cleaner solution.

I’m in the process of replacing the homey built-in dashboard buttons. It looks a lot nicer already.

I’ve noticed you have devices/buttons which colour on a threshold (below 10%, below 20% for example). I was wondering if I could get them also to colour on the other side (above 70 and above 80) like in relative humidity (so green between 40 and 60, orange a bit beyond that and red if it is way out of the comfort zone ) and also only above certain values of it is a temperature sensor.. or have it colour from white (extreme cold, to blue a bit cold, to green, excellent, to orange warm and red hot)

Cheers, and keep up the good work!

Just FYI:

locked is the toggle (on/off) default homey capability for a lock.
However, open_lock is not.
Im the developer of the official Shelly Loqed app, and with that app, the capability to open a door/latch (if applicable) is open for which i also have a open flowcard.

So, locked can be used by default, but controlling the latch/open would only work if in the widget, you can select which capability is ment for open.
Ofc, im assuming that wouldnt be to hard, just an autocomplete in the widget that shows a list (from the selected device) with all button (not setable) that the device has.

If needed, i could supply an AVD with testable properties for this purpose?

Personally i use the app (and widgets) frmo the app List for this purpose.

Right now I use notifications and user responses in a flow, but I’d like a way to see these on a dashboard.

For example:

  • “Dishwasher is ready!” appears as a green square button. When I open the dishwasher, I tap it and it goes away.
  • Washer and dryer: while they’re running, I can see alerts on the dashboard showing they’re in use.
  • “Trash day!” shows up in the morning. If I’ve already taken the trash out, I tap the alert and it’s gone.

I already have all of this working with variables and mobile notifications with user responses, but I need it in a visual form on a dashboard.

Thanks for explaining! I really like the idea of letting users select which capability the “Open door” button should trigger. That sounds like a good way to support different locks and integrations. Thanks for offering to help with testing too!
@ThomasRS What are you thinking about it?

I would like that too!
