@martijnpoppen, is repairing device still the only option to fix this “issue” ? Reason ; someone in a group app has a new phone.
@Seinuh most of the time that resolves itself by login in to whatsapp web
@Michael_Fritzsche really strange, I checked the log, i see the number aswell, but no clue where this might come from. It’s the data which whatsapp sends.. So this seems not in the homey app. Somewhere you name is linked to this number. But I don’t get it.
Just out of cusriousity. is this your own private phone or a work phone ?
Edit: Also can you tell a bit more where this occurs? In a specific group or in multiple groupchats?
Thas my personal number. I have my business number registered on the phone, but never used for WHatApp and it is also a german msisdn
It doesnt matter in what group i enter some text, it is always attaches a wrong phone number.
I tested with another families phone, andt there comes another wrong number:
Looks like, every WhasApp account is getting another wrong msisdn attached which seems to be persistent for this account. Since i do authorization to open our front door based on sender number (since i cannot control from which group i catch messages) my flow to order opening the front door by WhatsApp is now broken until we get correct numbers…
You mean sing in into whatsapp web with the number i use for homey ?
@Michael_Fritzsche I did some search and seems whatsapp introduced a way to allow users to exchange messages without knowing each other’s phone numbers.
I need to check how to fix this.
Understandable, but nothing i can do about that, This is still a reversed engineered app built by a community developer
@Seinuh yes
@Michael_Fritzsche I made a fix, can you try the test version above?
I get redirected to the official version 1.30.0
@Michael_Fritzsche can you try again now?
Thank you! I tested, but unfortunately, group chats are no longer catched: bc028591-96ca-4a34-b973-ee616fa21443
@Michael_Fritzsche new version
see above
Unfortunately, it’s still not catching group messages, and now it’s also unable to send messages. I reconnected the app before testing.

P.S. We could also switch to communicating via Git to avoid cluttering this post with debugging messages.
@Michael_Fritzsche sorry steering blind here, can’t reproduce it myself. so will check the report
Rather not, all communication for my apps go via the forum. I like to keep that that way
Changelog:
NEW:
1: NEW: add support for anonymous participant ID
FIXES:
1: FIX: get correct senders number (unhash)

Don’t want to be part of this test version? Install the live version → WhatsApp | Homey
@Michael_Fritzsche I added a new test
Group chats are being received again, but they’re still coming through with the wrong number. Hopefully, there’s something in the log now.

@Michael_Fritzsche i see, the unhashed sender is not coming back. I see there are multiple people with the same issue (with the library i use). So we have to wait for an update there ![]()
