@Rogier_Verheugen if you send that code in the group then the group will be linked to the widget. You can just do that via your normal WhatsApp app
Hi Martijn,
Still did not work. After reinstall the Widget I got it to work with a new code.
Thanks for your help.
Rogier
New app update ( TEST: 1.26.4):
Changelog:
NEW:
1: NEW: Add dashboard widget
The widget is a Chat functionality
which shows the latest messages from a selected Group Chat
(for now only group chats are supported as these have a unique ID)
2: NEW: added a better Caching mechanism for widget chats. (Chats will be saved when widget is not active)
If you find any issues, send a report via the mobile homey app
More - apps - Whatsapp - settings wheel right top - send diagnostic report (put your email in the input field to make it easier)

Hi Martijn,
Whatsapp version: 1.26.7:
After a couple of hours the widget stopped working. It keeps loading. I restart the Homey app. Restart the Homey itself. Send a test whatsapp. Nothing.

@Rogier_Verheugen i made quite some updates.
Can you try to replace the widget ? Then it will prompt the install again
Tell me when I can try again
@Rogier_Verheugen thats what I asked right ?
The changes are there already, so that probably being the reason it didn’t work
My bad.
Reading without glasses. It works
Hello @martijnpoppen !
Thank you very much for the work already done and this new update which brings the widgets!
Two suggestions:
1 - In light theme, the widget is framed by a gray band which is not very pretty.
2 - It would be great if the widget supported the formatting of WhatsApp text. For example ** for bold, etc.
Personally, all of my notifications have advanced formatting, it’s too bad to lose it and also to see these special characters are not supposed to be visible.
I hope you can make these changes.
Thank you very much
Hey @Mikl
Thanks!
- Can you share a screenshot for that? I don’t see that on ipad
- Yes definitely. Will look into that!
One question though, what do you think about setting up the widget? is it ok like this or should it be easier?

Hello !
Here is the requested screenshot (it’s the same on a tablet):
It’s perfect if you can integrate the text formatting
I also thought of two other improvements:
- It would also be very good to be able to add an image to the Homey conversation profile, to replace the “H” or any other character (a warning in my case). Obviously, this is not essential but just a plus!
- An option to clear conversation history
Concerning a possible bug, I noticed that when sending a snapshot from one of my cameras, the image is not the same in WhatsApp and in the widget.
What is very surprising is that the camera timestamp on the Widget image indicates several minutes later than the time the message was sent.
Here is a screenshot of my WhatsApp conversation, identical to the widget screen above:
Finally to answer your question about configuring the widget, I think the process is really not complicated.
I followed the instructions, and it worked the first time
-
That’s interesting. I gave the webview a transparent background, but seems like this behaves different on android than on iOS. I’ll check this with Athom. (can i share your screenshot with them?)
-
Do you have the latest app version?
- I actually wanted to use the real image, but unfortunately i couldn’t do that. I can maybe provide a setting where you can put a url to a image. Unfortunately there’s no way to upload the image, but maybe you can make use of the gallery app for that.
- Nice will add that. If you have suggestion on where to put that let me know
- I think I know what happened there. The image url stays the same. so probably if you close and open the homey app the image will be updated again (if you had a snapshot in the meantime).
So in that case your complete conversation will always show the newest image
I have a idea for that , but that will brick the enlarge functionality, but in my opinion it’s more important to have the image from that exact time
- Nice thanks!
Hello again,
Yes you can share my image without problem, and I have the latest version installed (1.26.7)
Yes, I think using the gallery would be the easiest for the user. But done according to what is possible on your side, it’s the end result that counts
Why not in the parameter part of the widget, in the last position with a red button “clear history” ?
Hum okay I understand… However, closing and reopening the application does not seem to change anything.
Are you talking about the expansion size of the Widget itself ?
If that’s the case it’s too bad, but I also think it’s more important to have the exact image in the conversation thread.
Thank you so much !
Unfortunately i don’t have that freedom in the UI / widget settings
No probably with the next snapshot all images look the same after reload.
No clicking on the image will enlarge it.
Also checked the grey border with Athom and will try to debug myself on a Android
@Mikl I checked for the grey border with Athom, and it seems like a bug. They will check what they can do
@martijnpoppen Thanks for the great app!
I am unsure to ask here or maybe raise an issue on github, but I wanted to ask if it is possible to add mentions to the message.
Like posting to a group I would like to add @frank: Your turn to pick up the kids
Greets,
Frank
And a follow up question:
Will it be possible to react on message and/or add the boomer thumbs up to messages in a group?
Thanks again,
Frank
Hi @Frekel
Good that you asked here. I actually prefer that
But unfortunately on both your questions I have to reply that it’s not possible
