Right! Then I get your concerns. I use Signal and Telegram for a long time now, with no real issues, except for a few rate-limits due to too many messages in a certain timeframe.

I would be surprised if the WhatsApp part is working less reliable.

Is Callmebot offline? Homey sends no more messages and Callmebot isn’t responding to a new request for an APIkey (which I did in order to try and make it all work again).

The same problem here. I have written to CallMeBot Support.

Ah, I thought it was me flooding the Signal API. I switched to CallMeBot Telegram to ā€˜solve’ it.

No, only the CallMeBot Signal API seems to have issues

It is now running again with signal, the operator has written that he had to fix a server problem.

Why not use @martijnpoppen’s WhatsApp. It works locally on your Homey and messages are encrypted between Homey and web.whatsapp.com. This means the DEV has absolutely no insight into your messages. Seems a bit more secure and stable than the callmebot api.

You can send messages from your own name, to all your contacts individually or send a message to a group. The features are exactly the same as WhatsApp itself. really a top app!

As I understand, it is not possible to send a message to yourself.
I don’t want to create another account to register to be able to send a message to myself. Callmebot works differently.

It works the same as WhatsApp. There, you can also send messages to yourself. You don’t need to create an account, there where you link to web.whatsapp.com with the WA QR code.

Trying to solve the problem I used the number +34 644 52 74 88, as specified on the website. I received a corresponding APIkey but configuring the Homey app this combination turned out not to work.

So I tried to request a new APIkey via the ā€˜old’ phonenumber I was using: +34 644 10 55 84. The return message said I already have an APIkey. Used it and all works.

What’s the matter here?

You can send messages from your own number, but Whatsapp doesn’t give notifications from those messages:

Then it is pointless for being notified of certain actions Homey performs.
Callmebot doesn’t use your own number to send from, so that is a better option in these cases.

I don’t think you understand how WhatsApp works, then. You create a group and put your Homey messages in there and there you go. CallMeBot has its own number hence you will receive a notification from here. So you don’t need to create anything extra when you work with groups.

I think I do, but never mind @LRvdLinden, Callmebot suits me fine… :smiley:

It’s also just what you want as a user. Send your messages locally or via an api.

I might be wrong here , but sorry but your posts about an other ā€˜copied’ app for Whatsapp are offtopic, not related to CallMeBot at all imho.

I think it’s quite a bit disrespectful to plug a similar app, which you’re involved in, concerning the WhatsApp part of CallMeBot, in this CallMeBot topic. Just saying.

Although you address me too; all my posts concern the Callmebot app. I was mereley responding why Callmebot is the better choice for me and therefor on-topic.

Copied app? Don’t know where you got that from?

I responded to the error message that messages cannot be loaded and boot an alternative. During development of the app, I was only tester. I am just a user of the app.

So I am booting an alternative which is done in many threads by many people. Thats it. No disrespect to the dev of callmebot meant.

I think enough said on the matter everyone. Lets get back on topic :kissing_heart:

Is there a known problem with CallMeBot WhatsApp? I received a last message this morning at 6:00, after that nothing and whatsapp says last seen 6:05 for CallMeBot.
