Not sure this is even possible, but I have my NVR connected to a local monitor. Is it possible to control the NVR itself?
Id love to setup a button to switch to a different view on the NVR.
Hi J273,
Thanks for confirming that the new app works.
Controlling the NVR’s locally connected monitor may be possible, but Hikvision exposes this differently depending on the NVR model and firmware. Before I add any control command, could you provide:
Please do not post your IP address, username, password or serial number.
I have prepared read-only diagnostics for the next test build. Once that build is available, I’ll ask you to open Devices → your NVR → Repair device → Bug report, copy the privacy-safe report and post it here. The diagnostic only checks supported ISAPI capabilities and does not change the NVR configuration.
Hi J273,
Test version 2026.9.6 is now available.
Direct test link: Hikvision 2026.9.6 for Homey
Please:
Please do not share your IP address, username, password or serial number. The new diagnostic only reads supported ISAPI capabilities and does not change the NVR configuration.
Hi Brian,
Just installed the latest test version and tried to create a bug report but comes back with ‘the bug report could not be created’
My NVR is a DS-7716NI-I4 16p running the latest firmware V4.61.030 build 240123
I have my local monitor connected to the HDMI. The view i have set is 2x2 but I have 16 cameras. I wondered on whether it would be possible to say with a remote I have connected to homey i could flip between my 16 cameras viewing on the NVR’s local monitor.
Hwi hei hei , Has anyone solved the problem with the camera preview not working? The image shows up for a second, then disappears and the screen goes completely black. Everything works fine in the manufacturer’s app.
Hi J273,
Thanks for testing and for providing the NVR details. I found that the new display checks could take too long when one or more ISAPI endpoints were slow or unsupported. The repair wizard could also start the same report twice.
I have fixed both issues in test version 2026.9.7:
Test version: Hikvision 2026.9.7 for Homey
Could you please update to 2026.9.7 and try Devices → your NVR → Repair device → Bug report again? If the report is created, please copy it and post it here. This should tell me whether your DS-7716NI-I4 exposes the HDMI preview-switch functions needed for switching between camera views.
Hi Brian, in the latest version I still can’t generate the report. The camera image shows up for a second and then goes black… Best regards
I have the same problem. On my iMac I can see the cam’s (on safari and in the iMac app) but on my iPhone app, it is not working. The cam is black ![]()
I have already tried everything, but I am not getting a live image. Just a black screen, though I do have sound (which is also quite strange).
To be clear, this is only the case on my iPhone with the Homey App and also on my iMac with the Homey App. But when I watch on my iPhone via Safari (a bit awkward, I only tried this for testing), it does work, and on my iMac it also only works in my browser (Safari).
In short:
Camera image visible on iMac and iPhone via Safari (browser)
Black screen via the Homey app on my iMac and iPhone
So it seems to be an issue with the app, and how can I solve it?
Hi Brian, I’ve just installed the latest test version but still get the same error. The bug report could not be created
Hi @J273, @Mateusz_Borowiec and @EdNL,
I have published test version 2026.9.8:
This version:
Please update the app and test Devices → your Hikvision device → Repair device → Bug report again.
For a black Live image, open the device settings, set Video transport to Direct RTSP, save the setting and reopen Live. If the problem remains, please share the newly generated bug report and mention whether Direct RTSP changed the result.
I think now works snapshoots no live view
That option i should fix in homey or nvr ?
Here’s the bug report for you

Hi @J273 and @Mateusz_Borowiec,
Thank you for sending the reports. Both reports show that the privacy-safe fallback works, but detailed device diagnostics stopped with ENOENT. That means these reports do not yet contain the NVR local-display capability results, so version 2026.9.9 does not enable NVR monitor-view switching.
I have now published test version 2026.9.9:
This release improves pairing and mobile use: automatic network discovery, a separate connection-test step, password-manager support, standard Homey device icons, and improved fullscreen/landscape zoom and panning.
@Mateusz_Borowiec: Direct RTSP is configured in Homey, not on the NVR or camera. Open Devices → your Hikvision device → Settings → Video transport → Direct RTSP (compatibility), save, and then reopen Live. Also make sure the selected stream uses H.264.
Please test 2026.9.9. If Live is still black, mention the exact model and firmware, the tested Homey device, and whether the same stream works in Safari.
@Brian_Monninkhof
You’re amazing! It’s working on my iPhone now with these settings:
RTSP stream: Automatic (recommended)
Playback transport: Direct RTSP (compatibility)
Use RTSP only: YES
I have a live feed with sound now. That’s really great—thanks!
I do have one quick question, though. When I tap the full-screen button, the image gets a bit bigger but stays in portrait mode (the way you normally hold your phone). But when I tilt my phone (to landscape), the image doesn’t get any larger and remains vertical (it stays exactly as it normally is). Is there a way to adjust this so that tilting the device gives me a larger image?
* Use Google Translate
I have to give you moren information:
Oops, I need to mention one more thing:
When I try to view the feed in my browser, I get a message stating that my camera is unavailable—even though it was working fine in the app just moments before.
If I then change my settings to the following:
RTSP stream: Automatic (recommended)
Playback transport: Direct RTSP (compatibility)
Use RTSP only: NO
Settings via the app:
RTSP stream: Automatic (recommended)
Playback transport: Direct RTSP (compatibility)
Use RTSP only: YES
So, the “Use RTSP only” setting differs depending on the platform. In Safari, I have to set it to NO, whereas in the app, it actually needs to be set to YES.
I hope this information helps.
Hi @EdNL,
Thanks for the additional information. The fullscreen button in the device’s built-in Live view is controlled by the Homey iOS app. A Homey app can provide the RTSP stream, but it cannot force that native view to rotate or change its fullscreen layout.
As an alternative, add the Hikvision camera zoom widget to a Homey Dashboard. Its fullscreen button supports landscape viewing, and the widget also provides zooming and panning.
You can also add the separate Hikvision recordings widget. With a compatible NVR, this lets you search for and play recorded footage directly from the Dashboard.
One settings note: enable RTSP-only mode only if your device’s ISAPI connection does not work, because that mode disables snapshots, events and connection checks. Direct RTSP (compatibility) is the setting intended to solve black video in the native Homey app.
Hei @Brian_Monninkhof thx for answer .
I set everything up just the way you wrote. The preview doesn’t work in devices, but it works on the desktop, except I only have a preview from one camera—I can’t add previews from other cameras… Homey Pro 2026 version, software 13.5.0
btw I think that’s not live view, it’s just snapshots…
Best regards
Thanks. I need a few more details because Homey has two different camera views.
The view under Devices → camera → Live is the continuous RTSP video stream. The Hikvision camera zoom Dashboard widget refreshes the camera image approximately every 15 seconds, which can look like a Live view with a very low refresh rate.
Could you provide:
For comparison, these screenshots show my setup:
1. The built-in Homey device Live view. This is the continuous RTSP stream under Devices. Homey controls its fullscreen and orientation behaviour.
2. The Dashboard widgets. The camera zoom widget refreshes the camera image automatically; the recordings widget below it can search and play compatible NVR recordings.
3. The camera zoom widget enlarged in landscape/fullscreen mode. This widget also supports zooming and panning.
The current zoom widget uses the first NVR channel. Your answers will help determine whether we need channel selection in the widget or whether the native Live stream is failing.
