Outdoor Climate adds a sensor device with the current outdoor temperature and humidity for a location of your choice. Search by place name, use a Dutch postcode, or simply use your Homey’s location.
What does it do?
* Works worldwide: values come from a weather model, calculated for your exact location. That is not a measurement but a calculation, the same kind a weather forecast is based on.
* Real measurements in the Netherlands: here the app uses the nearest KNMI weather station, updated every 10 minutes. If no station is close enough or station data is temporarily unavailable, it switches to the weather model automatically.
* You always know what you’re looking at: the device shows whether a value is measured or calculated, the source and station (e.g. “KNMI Volkel (15 km)”) and the observation time.
* Location: place name anywhere in the world, Dutch postcode (optionally with house number), or your Homey’s location. You can change it later in the device settings.
* Configurable per device: source (automatic / station only / model only), maximum distance to a station and update interval. Outside the Netherlands, use *automatic* or *model only*.
* Flows and Insights: works like any other sensor, with an *Update now* flow card.
* No account or API key needed.
Made for VarView
The app started as a data source for VarView (VarView | Homey), which shows Homey values full screen on a Nest Hub, Chromecast or in a browser. Add an Outdoor Climate device, select temperature and/or humidity in VarView, and the outdoor temperature is on your screen. Since it’s a regular Homey device, it also works in any other app or flow.
