The issues that many users are experiencing with newer cars have to do with API changes on the side of Kia/Hyundai. Implementing a newer api wrapper is only possible for HP2024 at the moment, and it would break the app for HP2016/2019. This is because Athom uses different node versions between hardware versions. I havent seen any activity at Athom to upgrade node on HP2016/2019.
So at the moment the Homey app is ‘stuck’ and cannot be updated without breaking existing HP2016/2019 installs. (And I am one of the HP2019 users myself!)
So:
Athom should upgrade Node on older hardware
Maybe Hyundai/Kia is willing to help me turn this app into an official vendor app, and I get native access to their api.
Excited to share that, through LG, we’ve connected with Hyundai/KIA to explore the possibility of an official partnership. Discussions are still ongoing, but I’m hopeful to share some positive updates soon!
Do you know what has to be changed in the current code to make this work on HP2023? For me it would be a solution to run a version that only works on HP2023 as a locally installed version. Actually it is quite important for that this will work with the new Kona. If I can help you with the coding, then I’m very willing to do that. I have a small team of professional developers that I can schedule to work on it. Please let me know.
Hello Doekse, is there any news about a collaboration yet? I’m about to get a new E-Hyundai. The apparently non-functioning connectivity with Homey is a big negative for me at the moment.
Can something that Gruijter suggested be implemented?
So, for everyone who is comfortable with a little coding and deploying apps yourself, I’ve found a fix to make the app work with the newer Hyundai cars. Just tested it on my today delivered Inster.
Requirements:
NodeJS and the HomeySDK have to be installed on your device
Deploy the Homey App (you may have to do this twice)
Add your car
By doing this, the app starts using bluelink v3 instead of bluelink v2. It’s possible that this has negative side-effects that aren’t clear to me yet. So all on your own risk.
Hi, the app is really promising - great work. But I dont get it working reliably. The status refresh is not always working, the sending of commands to the ioniq 5 is not always working. Is bluelink the problem? Or my HP2023 ? thanks for a hint
Bluelink is the issue. There is no official API I can use. So the one I’m using is based on reversed engineering. I still hope that one day @Doekse can convince Hyundai to let me upgrade this app to an official manufacturers app.
I have bee using this most useful app with my previous IONIQ 5, and now the new car does not work well with my IONIQ 5 2025.
I would like to try to use your method to “renew” the app, and make it work with my car.
I am comfortable with coding, but as my skills might be a bit rusty (it has been quite a while since any major project), it would be extremely helpful if you or anyone could make the effort to make a bit more in depth description of the procedure, with a more detailed descriptions including screenshots.
Another suggestion could be that the developer of the app could release a beta version based on your efforts, and make this available for testing by whoever is comfortable with that
See older posts on this topic. HP2016/2019 is not compatible with newer api packages due to the use of a deprecated node version. Upgrading node on these older Homey’s is intended but not planned at the moment by Athom.
A short term official new release of Kia and Hyundai app for HP2024 is under discussion with Athom (@Abe_Haverkamp ). Until then nothing can be done.
Athom has decided to invest in official Kia and Hyundai apps
So now I need access to data from recent cars that do not work or only partly work with the present app.
For both Hyundai and Kia you can share your car with me from their mobile app. Please let me know if you are willing to do that. I will send you my phone details so you can start sharing the car. After I’m done testing and developing you can off course unshare your car again.
I have the same issue as Manar. Car detected as HEV but is full EV, Kia EV9 in this case. When forcing to change to EV, the SOC on the EV battery is 0%.
I’m willing to share my car with you, just pm me what you need.
