Hi Peter,
Here are some answers:
My first thought was: when this app can do it, your app can do it?
Yes if FindMy or other app can get the location of your phone then this app can be redesigned to get this info directly too, but it’s not a purpose I want to implement. GeoZones is designed to be a tool for geofencing and one of its strenghts is it doesn’t depend on any external SDK. If I begin to implement findmy and other companion app as native source then the maintainability will be hard, continuous, etc. Also those companion apps are already maintained on their side by persons who knows really well their app & complexity.
When you will add a compatible device with those apps it will automaticly appear in GeoZones.
I don’t have any android device at home to make the tests, but I’m sure there would be solutions for you to have your location, but generally in requires an app with login so you’ll need to create an account, email or phone n° I don’t know.
Macrodroid seems to be a geofencing app with interesting capabilities. Maybe one day a homey app will exist to get MacroDroid info, but your approach is interesting and it seems you found a good way to use it with webhooks. Thanks for the info ![]()
