[APP][Pro] Gecko InTouch - Control your Gecko spa or hot tub with InTouch2 or InTouch3

Hi Patrick,
thank you for the screenshot. It appears that Gecko’s login service is asking your account to complete an additional step, such as accepting updated terms or verifying account information. Please log out and back in using the official in.touch 3 app, complete any prompts shown there, and then try adding the device in Homey again. If the problem remains, please let me know whether the official in.touch 3 app asks you to accept any terms, verify your account, or provide additional information when signing in.

Hi Tomas, I assume you meant version 1.4.0 rather than 1.0.4, as I could not find any version 1.0.4. I compared the current implementation with version 1.4.0, which previously worked for you, and found a difference in how the in.touch 2 connection is initialized. I have adjusted this in the new version 2.1.3, and I would now like to test whether communication continues after the initial connection and whether status updates and temperature changes work correctly. Please let me know how it behaves after updating.

Mvh Thomas

Hi Thomas,
Thanks for the quick reply. I have already performed these steps several times (as you described): accepting updated terms of use or verifying account details. I have to accept the terms of use every time I log out and log back in. Unfortunately, the problem therefore persists.
Thank you

Patrick

Hi Patrick,
I have investigated this further and compared the Homey implementation with Gecko’s official Home Assistant integration. Your account is redirected to an additional interactive Auth0 page where the terms must be accepted, but the current Homey login runs in the background and cannot display that page.

This explains why the login works for some users but not for others. Accounts that proceed directly from the password step to the authorization code can be connected successfully. Accounts for which Gecko requires an additional step, such as accepting terms, verifying account information, or completing a profile, are redirected to an interactive page that Homey cannot currently handle. Existing users with valid saved tokens may also continue working because they do not need to perform the complete login process again.

Unfortunately, this cannot be fixed safely by simply following another redirect or automatically accepting the terms. The proper solution requires an interactive OAuth login registered for Homey, which depends on authorization from Gecko’s authentication service. I will investigate whether Gecko can provide this, but I cannot promise when or if it will become available.

I am sorry that I cannot provide an immediate solution.

Hi Thomas,
Thanks a lot for the great support and effort. I’ll keep following your app and hope there will be a solution in the future.
Have a nice weekend,
Patrick

Hi Thomas,

First of all, I just want to thank you for all your development work and for your excellent and quick responses.

Unfortunately, the latest version hasn’t changed anything. The app quickly loads the correct values when it is restarted, but after that, the values are not updated again.

Best regards,
Tomas

Hi Tomas,

Thank you for the update.

I have performed several tests in my own environment but have not been able to reproduce the issue. The app continues to retrieve and update the InTouch2 values correctly at regular intervals here.

Could you please create and send me a diagnostics report from the Gecko InTouch app? Before creating the report, please follow these steps:

  1. Restart the Gecko InTouch app in Homey.
  2. Change the temperature directly on the spa control panel.
  3. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  4. Open the Homey mobile app and go to More (…) → Apps → Gecko InTouch → Settings → Create Diagnostics Report.
  5. Send me the diagnostics report ID displayed by Homey.

The report should help me determine whether the app continues requesting updates and what values the spa returns after startup in your environment.

Best regards,
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

I followed your instructions exactly:

1. Restarted the Gecko InTouch app in Homey.

2. Changed the temperature directly on the spa control panel.

3. Waited more than 30 seconds.

4. Opened the Homey mobile app and went to More (…) → Apps → Gecko InTouch → Settings → Create Diagnostics Report.

However, when I press “Create Diagnostics Report”, nothing happens. No diagnostics report ID is displayed, and I don’t get any confirmation that a report has been created.

So unfortunately, I’m unable to send you a diagnostics report ID.

Could you please advise me what I should do next, or if there is another way for me to generate/send the diagnostics information?

Best regards,
Tomas

Hi Tomas,

Thank you for trying this and for the detailed explanation.

I found that the diagnostics component was included in the app but was not being initialized correctly. This explains why pressing “Create Diagnostics Report” did not display a report ID or confirmation.

I have corrected the issue, and the updated version v2.1.4 has now been deployed. Please update the Gecko InTouch app and repeat the previous test:

  1. Restart the Gecko InTouch app.
  2. Change the temperature directly on the spa control panel.
  3. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  4. Go to More (…) → Apps → Gecko InTouch → Settings → Create Diagnostics Report.
  5. Send me the displayed diagnostics report ID that you get after you press the
    “Send report” button.

Thank you for your patience and assistance with troubleshooting this issue.

Best regards,
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Something very interesting just happened.

Without me doing anything, the Target Temperature in Homey suddenly changed to 26.9 °C.

As far as I understand, the Gecko spa only changes the target temperature in 0.5 °C increments, so 26.9 °C should not be a possible target temperature.

The screenshot shows:

  • Target temperature: 26.9 °C
  • Current temperature: 37.5 °C

I have not changed the target temperature or done anything with the spa at this moment.

What is also interesting is that the app is currently communicating with the spa correctly, including control, but the values seem to change unexpectedly.

I still cannot create a diagnostics report.

I have attached a screenshot showing the 26.9 °C target temperature.

Hi,

Thanks for the detailed information. The 26.9 °C target temperature is indeed strange, especially since the Gecko spa normally changes the target temperature in 0.5 °C increments.

I think it would help a lot if I could get a log from your machine. There are quite a few things happening in your setup that I have never seen or encountered before, so having the log would make it much easier for me to troubleshoot what is actually happening.

Do you have the v2.1.5 beta installed? Please check the video I have linked, as it shows how to send the report.

Hi Thomas,

I think I may have found the reason for the problem.

I had the old Gecko InTouch app still installed on both my iPhone and iPad. I noticed that the old and new apps appeared to have the same MAC address/IP-related communication, which made me suspect they could interfere with each other.

I have now uninstalled the old app from both devices, removed/re-added the device in Homey, updated the app and restarted Homey. Since then, everything is working normally.

I’ll leave it running for a while to see if it remains stable. So please don’t spend time investigating this further just yet — I’ll let you know if the problem comes back.

Mvh
Tomas

Still – everything is working perfectly.

Thanks, Thomas.

Hi everyone,

I’ve released a major update to the Gecko InTouch app for Homey, adding support for both Gecko InTouch 2 and Gecko InTouch 3.

Gecko InTouch 2 is paired locally by entering the spa’s IP and MAC address. Gecko InTouch 3 is paired by signing in with your Gecko username and password.

Because of the new version and the expanded device model, users with existing flows need to update their triggers, actions, and conditions so that they use the latest Flow cards. This also applies if your existing flows worked correctly with the previous version.

If you notice anything that does not work as expected, I would appreciate it if you let me know. Your feedback helps improve the app’s stability and functionality for everyone.

If you appreciate the work that goes into this app and would like to support its continued development, donations are welcome. There is absolutely no obligation, but any support is sincerely appreciated.

Thank you for using Gecko InTouch for Homey, and thanks to everyone who has tested the app and shared feedback.

/Thomas
