Thanks to Antom for testing the SOFAR support so thoroughly, and to everyone who voted on the battery labels. Option D won.
What’s new
SOFAR Inverter device: SOFAR inverters (ESI-T1 / HYD 5-20KTL-3PH with an LSW3 logger) now have their own device type. Choose Add device → SOFAR Inverter. There’s no auto-detection and no model to pick.
Clearer battery values (hybrid inverters):
New Charge Power and Discharge Power, which are never negative. The one not in use shows 0.
The signed value used by Homey Energy is hidden from the device card. Homey Energy works exactly as before.
The old signed value is renamed “Battery Power (+ discharging)” and stays available, so your existing Flows keep working. You can hide it in Device settings → Advanced → “Show signed battery power (legacy)”.
Fix: the “Grid export started” and “Grid import started” Flow cards can now select the grid meter.
How to test
SOFAR owners who used the 1.4.12 test: remove your SOFAR devices and add them again through SOFAR Inverter.
Deye hybrid owners: no re-pairing needed. Just update the app, then check:
The battery device shows Charge Power and Discharge Power.
Your existing Flows still work.
The “Battery Power (Homey Energy)” value is hidden on the device card. If it’s still visible, please let me know.
Homey Energy still shows the battery in the right direction.
A screenshot of your battery device after updating would help a lot.
Note: labels are translated into the languages Homey supports.
I have now tested the new battery display in both directions and it works exactly as expected.
During discharge:
Charging Power: 0 W
Discharging Power: 2470 W
During charge:
Charging Power: 1120 W
Discharging Power: 0 W
I uploaded the three screenshots to GitHub in the issue titled “3 Photos test SOFAR nouvelle version”. The new presentation is much clearer and I think Option D works very well.
Homey Energy also continues to work correctly.
I noticed one measurement that seems to be missing from the three SOFAR devices: instantaneous house/load power in W.
I can see the daily load consumption and total load consumption in kWh, but I cannot find the current house load power.
This value would be very useful for my energy-management Flows. I currently copy the SOFAR instantaneous values into a Device Capabilities dashboard (PV power, battery power, SOC, grid power and house consumption). All the other instantaneous values are now available from your SOFAR devices, but I currently have to leave house consumption at 0 W because I cannot access it.
Would it be possible to expose the instantaneous House Load / Load Power as a capability on one of the SOFAR devices?
Great news that option D works well, thanks for testing both directions!
About house load power: it’s actually already there, on the Inverter device. The problem is its French label, “Puissance Charge”, which next to the new battery “Puissance de charge” looks like a battery value. That’s my mistake in the translations.
In the next test version (1.4.14), it’s renamed “Consommation maison” (and the daily/total counters “Consommation maison aujourd’hui” / “totale”), so it can’t be confused with the battery anymore. Your devices get the new names automatically, with no re-pairing.
If you don’t see it on the Inverter device at all, you probably unchecked “Advanced sensors” during pairing. Open the Inverter device → ⋮ → Repair, enable advanced sensors and save. It will be added without re-pairing.
I’ll let you know when 1.4.14 is available on the test link.
The “ADD ADVANCED SENSORS” section is present, and its description mentions load power and energy totals, but I cannot see any checkbox or switch to enable it.
The Save button is also disabled.
I have attached a screenshot of the Repair screen so you can see exactly what I am seeing.
Thanks for the screenshot, the Repair screen didn’t load your device data, which is a bug on my side. I’m looking into it.
The simplest solution for now: remove the SOFAR Inverter device and add it again via Add device → SOFAR Inverter, keeping “Advanced sensors” checked (it’s checked by default). The house load power will then be on the Inverter device.
Note: in the current test version its French label is still “Puissance Charge”. In the next test version (1.4.14) it becomes “Consommation maison” automatically.
You only need to re-add the Inverter device. The Battery and Meter devices can stay.
I removed and re-added the SOFAR inverter device. I still don’t see “Advanced Sensors” on the repair screen, but “Home Consumption” now appears on the inverter device. I compared its value with the one shown on the inverter’s display, and they match.
Everything is working for me now. Thank you for your help!
Great to hear everything works and that the house consumption matches the inverter display. Thanks for checking!
Thanks also for reporting the Repair screen issue. In the next test version (1.4.14) there’s a simpler way to get missing sensors back: device settings → Maintenance → “Restaurer les capacités”. It re-adds anything missing (like advanced sensors skipped at pairing) without re-pairing and without removing anything, so Flows and Insights are kept.
1.4.14 also renames the French labels: “Puissance Charge” becomes “Consommation maison”, so it can’t be confused with the battery charge power anymore.
