With Dashboard Buttons, you can create your own buttons for the Homey Dashboard. The buttons can be used to start a Flow or to display the status of a Homey Yes/No variable and change it through a Flow. You can use these buttons as an alternative to the standard Start Flow and Yes/No variable dashboard buttons.
For each button, you can configure settings such as its text and width. Multiple buttons can be combined in a single widget and arranged in any order you like. The same button can also be used in multiple widgets.
There are two types of buttons:
Action button
An Action button starts a Flow. Each Action button can also be assigned its own Action value. This value is passed to the Flow as a text tag.
This allows you, for example, to use multiple dashboard buttons to start the same Flow and use the Action value within that Flow to determine which action should be performed.
Yes/No button
A Yes/No button is linked to an existing Homey Yes/No variable. The current value of the variable is displayed on the dashboard with a green or red status indicator.
When the button is pressed, a Flow can be triggered in which the desired new Yes/No status is available as a tag. The linked variable can then be changed using the standard Homey Logic Flow cards.
Flow cards
Trigger cards:
Action button pressed – triggered when an Action button is pressed. The configured Action value is available in the Flow as a text tag.
Yes/No button pressed – triggered when a Yes/No button is pressed. The desired new status is available in the Flow as a Yes/No tag.
Action cards:
Enable/disable button – allows a button to be enabled or disabled from a Flow. A disabled button is displayed in grey and does not respond when pressed.
Start light loop – displays a colored light loop around a button for a configurable period of time. This can be used, for example, as visual confirmation that an action has been performed or to draw attention to something.
Creating and adding buttons
Buttons are first created in the app settings. You can choose between a wide button (the full width of the widget) or a small button (half the width of the widget).
Next, add the Dashboard Buttons widget to a Homey Dashboard and use the widget settings to select which buttons should be displayed and in which order.
