This thread is dedicated to support and discussion around the YELGate app I’ve just submitted (currently for testing purposes).
For context, the app aims to provide richer support for Legrand devices within the Homey ecosystem by bypassing Netatmo’s cloud services, thus eliminating the need for a Legrand gateway.
The app is still in early development, so here are a few things to be aware of before migrating to it:
- Confirmed compatibility: The app has only been verified to work properly on the Homey Pro (Early 2019), since that’s the only unit I own. I previously had a Homey Pro (Early 2023) but couldn’t get any Legrand devices to connect to it. Two issues were at play: first, my devices are quite old and their outdated firmware locks them to a specific Zigbee channel (this should be fixable now that Homey supports OTA updates for Zigbee devices); second, Legrand devices include a safety mechanism that blocks pairing unless the power is switched off. To check this, the device probes the network for another device’s uptime. In a standard setup with a Legrand gateway, the gateway responds to this probe; without it, pairing becomes impossible. Unfortunately, I can’t work around this on my end — it would require Homey to rewrite their pairing procedure to account for it. Oddly, the exact same devices that failed on the newer Homey Pro work fine on my Early 2019 unit, maybe the issue is solved,
- Shutter support: The app should work with shutters, but I haven’t been able to properly test this yet (don’t own one).
- Flow cards: I have no prior experience building custom flow cards, so support for them is planned before the v1 release, but not yet available.

PS: I won’t be able to dedicate 100% of my time to this project, as I’m doing other projects alongside it. Because of that, every release will focus on quality, so the app stays reliable and usable even during my absences.
