Right now the app works only with lights and locks due to Google-imposed UI limitations for Android Automotive apps.

Setup Instructions:
Homey for Android Automotive works in conjunction with the “Android Automotive” companion app available on the Homey App Store:
Install the companion app “Android Automotive” on your Homey Pro;
Install and launch “Homey for Android Automotive” in your car;
Enter the Homey ID of the Homey Pro you want to connect to in the car app;
Scan the QR code with your phone and follow the login instructions;
Once authentication on your smartphone is complete, your devices will appear on the car display.
Thanks for doing the work man! This app would be absolutely fantastic if we could get quick actions on the home screen for our garages and gates. Does it seem doable?
ciao @Tore_Th , I did some research, but it seems that on AAOS, quick actions are only available for Media, Phone, and Navigation apps. All other apps (including IoT apps like mine) have a general tab with no way to configure quick actions.
Hello. Trying out your app but I have a problem with my garage door. Actually it is not available in the app. I use a Shelly 1 Mini Gen3 as garage door opener.
The app (both the car version and the Homey companion app) only detects lights, locks, and sockets/switches if they are linked to lights or locks (referring to the “connected to” setting). The issue is that in the switch settings, Homey lets you select lights but not locks…
The best solution is to create a virtual device (I use the “Device Capabilities” app, which offers a high level of customization) with “garage door” class, and then use the virtual device’s flow triggers to activate the garage opening. This way, the virtual device will appear in the car app, and you can also use it for proximity alerts (e.g., when you approach home and the garage is closed, you get a notification in the car to open it; when you drive away and the garage is left open, you get a notification to close it). Once done, hide the actual switch so your Homey app remains uncluttered and free of duplicates.
Another, quicker solution is to go into the switch settings and specify that it is connected to a light. This makes it appear in the app so you can use it immediately, but since it isn’t classified as a lock, you won’t be able to open or close it directly from the notification.
I recommend the first solution—it’s the one I use for my own garage (though in my case, it’s a remote control rather than a standard switch).
Thanks for the hint. Thats what I have done and now it works fine.
I noticed something else with the temperature functionality. So basically the sensors that I removed from the Home climate are not shown, thats good, but I see some other temperature sensors that Homey from start did not consider as climate sensors, like oven temperature. In your app I can only say its indoor or outdoor, but this should be excluded by default or manually.
