I’ve pushed a batch of fixes to the Test channel that should resolve the pairing/login issues several of you have reported recently (“credentials not valid”, pairing stuck on “Login failed”, or a “Timeout after 30000ms” error). If you’ve hit any of those, please update and give it another try.
What’s fixed
Login format detection completely reworked
Different Deco models and firmware versions speak slightly different dialects of the login protocol (JSON vs. form-urlencoded, different password hashing). The app used to guess one format and only retry if it recognized a very specific error — which meant some models that used to pair fine started failing after other fixes were made for different models. The app now tries every known combination during pairing and stops at the first one that works, so a quirk on one model can no longer break pairing for another.
Pairing could “lose” a successful login
Found and fixed a real bug where login could succeed perfectly — your Deco accepted the credentials — but the pairing screen would navigate to the wrong place afterward and never show you the device list. If you saw pairing seemingly succeed but then nothing happened (or it dumped you back to the login screen), this was why.
“Timeout after 30000ms” on slow routers
On some networks, a single request during login could hang well past its intended timeout, pushing the whole login past Homey’s own ~30 second pairing limit — even though the login was about to succeed. Login now has a hard timeout backstop and gives up with a clear error well before that limit, instead of silently running over it.
Diagnostic screen fixed
The “unrecognised login protocol” screen (model/firmware report + copy debug report) had a bug where its buttons did nothing on some platforms. That’s fixed, so if pairing genuinely doesn’t recognize your firmware, you can now actually report it properly.
Please use Settings → Apps → TP-Link Deco → ⋮ → Submit diagnostic report right after the failure, and post the report ID here along with your Deco model and firmware version (Deco app → More → About). That gives me everything I need to dig in without back-and-forth.
Thanks for your patience and for all the diagnostic reports — they’re what made tracking this down possible.
Alive. Was also trying to get this up and running. Main deco is x50 And then a few m9. Trying to login as wel with ip adress as tplinkdeco.net yet with both it loads a few second and then just goes back to the add device page. And nothing shows up. Am undoing something wrong or is it a known issue?
Would it be possible to block internet (Roblox snapchat) on a specific device? Asking for a friend whose kids can’t disconnect from their laptop before sleep or dinner… He wants to have a flow to block temporary in “parental control” not the paid version…
I can’t add my Deco BE25. I have the homey pro mini and when I try to add the Decos the login is ok but then nothing happens and i get back to the same screen to add again the Deco Unit.
When I go to add a device, click on the deco, put my my main deco’s IP address and my password. It sends me straight back to the add device screen for me to do over and over again and no device is ever added. Is there a reason why this is happening?
