Hi again, by some “magic” the TV is now controllable also when using Ethernet. Great stuff!
Hi @Danny - I’m sorry, I really wish I knew so I could combat this problem in the future.
The TV, is an Samsung UE49MU6175 from 2017. I started using this TV with Wifi with Homey and it (almost) never failed. Then I “upgraded” it to Ethernet, gave it a fixed IP etc, all the tricks, and it NEVER started by my flow in the morning. To be fair to the TV and this App it must be said that, at this period Homey was acting up in all sorts of weird ways. I could not add Z-wave devices, other apps were malfunctioning etc etc. I’m not sure if this was all Homey or a combination of Homey and a wonky Wifi. Anyways, I forgot (irritably put it back in my mind) for a few weeks, and all of a sudden, one morning the TV was put on in the morning. I had to double check if I had removed the Ethernet cable, but it was still there. Since then it works flawlessly. Wifi is great. But I think Homey actually get a bit (alot) crazy over some periods regardless of Wifi.
Sorry I could not pinpoint the magic, really hope you get your TV responding soon, I do understand the frustration! ![]()
Thanks!
You have to do some trial and error. I have created flows that send a message as soon as something happens. For example: TV get’s switched on. That way I learned what to use as trigger.
But it is rather troublesome with a The Frame!
Set input source doesn’t work.
I cant seem to reliably turn my TV on using this app.
if I restart the app, then usually I can power the tv on, but not always. All the other functions seem to work fine though and I can turn the TV off with this app.
I have applied a static IP address to the tv.
the tv does support wake on LAN, and I am able to turn it on using Samsung’s very basic Homey app, and using the smart things app on my iPhone.
I have ensured that it has the ‘turn on with mobile’ ticked. I have gone into the settings and obtained an API token.
My homey is connected via ethernet, and the tv is connected via Wi-Fi.
Usually if i go into the device on the Homey ‘devices’ tab, when I press the power-on button, either nothing happens, or I get an error message saying “power on in progress”
anybody got any ideas?
I am turning on a Samsung TV on daily basis for months now. And I restart the app daily using a flow.
I did try a test routine where I restarted the app and then turned the tv on and it had mixed successes.
Don’t restart the app a certain length of time before you turn the tv on?
Well, I have a flow that restarts a bunch of apps every night at 4.00 AM. For some it works, for others it doesn’t
I’ve connected my samsung tv and a smartthings api. Input source does nothing.
That’s correct…. it doesn’t work
Oh… so it’s actually broken?
Broken….never worked…. poteeto, potaato
Oof.
Hello
I have my Samsung Q90 Series connected in homey. I was able to get the tv on the first time but now I’m not able to turn the tv off. Whit a flow it is not working as wel. And than if I like to use the volume down option it is telling me that my connection is not secure but the option is turnt on I have tuned it off and on the Sucre connection I have made a api on the site of Samsung but I got no response from the tv. And if I use the site to check my tv it works http://192.168.5.20:8001/api/v2/
