Hello, if you could send me the diagnostic log when the connection is lost, it would be easier for me to help you. There were too many entities in the previous diagnostic logs. I can determine whether the connection was lost because of these entities or for some other reason.

Hi, here are the logs, last night there were several disconnections and now it is permanently disconnected. I have heavily reduced the amount of information the ESP32 sends (by trigger now) Let me know if there is any other diagnostic information I can collect (The DHT messages are because I have a damaged temperature sensor)

Those logs are from the ESPHome dashboard’s own log connection (aioesphomeapi), and it is being reset too. That means the ESP32 itself is dropping all TCP connections periodically — this is not specific to the Homey app. There are no boot messages, so the device isn’t rebooting; it’s most likely running low on heap memory or TCP sockets and killing connections to recover.

• A few things to try / collect:

1. Remove the damaged DHT from your YAML** until you replace it. Failed DHT reads block the main loop (it’s a blocking bit-banged protocol), which is a known trigger for API connection resets. This is my top suspect together with memory pressure.
2. Add the debug component and let it run overnight, then share the Heap Free trend (falling heap before each reset = memory leak/exhaustion):

3. How many clients connect to this device? (Homey + the ESPHome dashboard log viewer + Home Assistant?) Each open log viewer is an extra API connection.
4. For the “permanently disconnected” state: does restarting the Homey app fix it temporarily, or only power-cycling the ESP? This tells us which side gets stuck.
   5.. Please also send a Homey diagnostic report right after it disconnects: Homey app → Settings → Apps → ESPHome → wheel icon → Create Diagnostics Report, and share the ID.

I see your ESPHome software version is very old. This is likely the cause of the problem you’re experiencing. There’s nothing else I can do on the code side — if you can update your firmware version, please send me the diagnostic log containing the error you encountered after the update.

Ok, so I upgraded, cleared the disconnections form the logging dashboard and I haven’t seen any more disconnections for a couple of days. I am currently using one of the dev versions you sent me (1.3.20). Should I stick to that or fall back to the available production release?

It’s been a while since the major effort to complete the Konnected integration into Homey using the Konnected Home Security & Garage community app by ugrbnk. Here’s a short update of my experience.

For the 12-Zone Konnected alarm panel, I used the Homey Home Security & Garage app as the ESPhome interface and Heimdall security app. There are YouTube videos that walks through setting up the advanced flows. I implemented this several months ago and it’s very stable. I removed the original alarm system control panels and moved to geofencing to alarm/disarm for normal day-to-day operation. Of course the system can be alarmed/disarmed via the Homey interface too. The alarm system is actually being used now since implementing geofencing. Before we would only arm the system when going on vacation. Now it’s alarmed as soon as we get a couple blocks from the house.

The Konnected Garage Door Opener (GDO) White took a little more effort since the older Homey ESPhome apps didn’t really cut it. After several revisions from the developer, ugrbnk, I’m happy with the results using the Homey Konnected Home Security & Garage app. I used the GDO ESPhome webpage to calibrate the optical open/closed sensor. The door can be controlled via the Homey or Alexa apps but I primarily use Alexa as my voice front end and give open/close commands or toggle the door with a Apple Watch.

I was able to remove other Homey ESPhome apps since moving to the single app that supports both the alarm panel and GDO. The Homey Konnected Home Security & Garage app is a community app by Uğur so don’t forget to donate a few euros for his efforts.
