[APP][Pro] Dashboard Studio - A completely free-form dashboard designer

after installing the test version i do not see a change in the widget labels:

if you compare “lampen” and “Türen/Fenster” you see a huge difference…

any idea?

Are you sure you are on 1.10.5? You can see it at the top of the editor.

Because in my testing it works perfectly fine.

I did the following:
Reset Canvas
added Light grid widget
set the Widget Label
set the padding to 0
added container Widget
set the Widget Label
set the padding to 0

Both look the same. Are you sure you set the padding inside the widget?

Maybe I should also clarify something. There are global settings and individual settings. For example, if you want all your widgets to have a padding of 0, it is best to adjust the global settings by clicking somewhere on the empty canvas, going to “container style” settings and change the “Default padding”. If you just want a single widget to have a padding of 0, you can change or override this in the widget settings itself under Layout and Dimensions. If you want to reset a setting to use the default settings again, hover over it and click the blue reset arrow.

is there a way to reset all individual settings?

Yes, there is a button:

In the “Dashboard Environment” settings (last option in the slide-out). But this will reset All widgets to their default settings.

reset all to default und tried again. for light grid and container it works for the widget label, but for Text the widget label is lower…
the Türen/Fenster is a Text Widget

For the time being you can change the “Offset Y” value of the Widget label. Positive and negative values are allowed.

Could you tell a bit more about the switches. Are the Rolläden informative and can a user actually switch Lampen on and off. What a bout the Türen/Fenster. I see different styles, but I’m not sure about the meaning of these differences.

rolläden and lampen are switches, so user can open/close switch on/off lights. the Türen/Fenster is only a view for the open/close status of the windows itself.

in general nobody needs to interact manually, as everything is automated
but sometimes, one of the zwave or zigbee shutters did not react correctly and then you can interact manually. this was the target

NEW TEST version 1.10.6:

  • Fixed: Text widget text uses the full width when padding is zero, and the widget label always stays at the top.

Oh, I was under the impression this was a container widget. I’ve found the issue, and test version 1.10.6 fixes this problem! :+1:

looks good, thank you.

another question: is it correct, that not everything can be set in the global settings.
e.g. Grid Layout for light grids.

Yes, not everything can be set in the global settings, but these are usually settings that are probably never used globally, like text etc.
[edit] Just looked, but these settings are there?

Hi Michel,

Thanks again for developing this really great app. In the meantime, I’ve been able to create my first dashboard to monitor my EMS, and I’m really impressed with what Dashboard Studio can do (and still discovering and playing with new functions and features).

I have a couple of ideas that might make an already great app even better:

  • Unless I’ve overlooked it, have you considered adding a “Position Objects” feature, similar to PowerPoint, allowing users to align objects (Left, Center, Right, Top, Middle, Bottom) and distribute them horizontally or vertically? I found myself wanting to use that while fine-tuning the layout of my dashboard.
  • Another thing I came across concerns solar power readings from HomeWizard kWh meters. I prefer to read my solar production from these meters directly, but that means the power is initially reported as a negative value. I worked around this using a Homey Flow, but would it be possible to add an option to invert a value (effectively multiplying it by -1)? I can imagine that being useful in a few other scenarios as well.

Just some thoughts from an enthusiastic user. Thanks again for all the work you put into Dashboard Studio!

Best regards,

Jan

in the current Test version i am not able to change colours in the template.
i go to theme colors, choose whatever color picker, choose a color and the website freezes.
tested with chrome and Edge.

anyone else can confirm this behaviour?

Not an issue here on my Chrome browser. Maybe clear the browser cache and Windows temp files in C:/Users/[username]/AppData/Local/Temp/ after closing all apps.

did not help unfortunately. same with an empty canvas :frowning:
tested as well with a new pc and firefox and with the last stable version of Dashboard Studio and restarted homey.

always same behaviour.
i click on the background, select “theme colors” then click on any colour box and change to a different color. at that moment the ui is freezing.
if i change only one color within a widget with selecting one of the predifined colors, that works.
but setting with the color sliders is failing.

i workedaround with editing the colors directly in the exported json. so no problem for now…

question:
i use virtual switches in homey to control my shutters.
this switches i included in the dashboard as well.

if i switch on the dashboard, it works fine.
if i switch the shutter in homey, the status is not reflected in the dashboard, whild the topics are correct , see screenshot.
anyone has an idea?

Sounds like this solution.

where do i see this setting in the light grid widget?
it’s only visible for the switch widget…

if i need to use multiple switch widgets, how do i get this layout in the easiest way:
so left side the label and right side the switch. I tried with the switch widget, but text and toggle always stays together…

Not an issue here on Win11 - Chrome
