And how do I measure this? Not a (particular) clue.
I’d like to help. So tell me detailed what to do and which information you need.

@DoctorBazinga Thanks! In the Homey web app you can find it under Settings → General. On that page you’ll find a memory card with the ram usage of all running apps. The Apple TV & HomePod app is probably in the first few apps shown.
The normal webapp or the Homey developers website?
And should I look while starting a Google TTS + Apple TV & Homepod test flow ir just in general ??
(How realtime are these values?)

Thank you for this app. I was able to add my 2 Apple TV but I am still not able to add my HomePod. I try several time, my HomePd is found but after nothing happen. The version of my HomePod is 26.3. Do you know why I am not able to add my HomePod.
@DoctorBazinga The normal web app
It’s not realtime, but if you check a few seconds after you played something, it should be updated.
@Carole_C I’m not sure, can you send a diagnostics report after searching for them when adding a device? Maybe there’s something useful in the logs ![]()

I want to play the same track/sound to several homepod mini’s as a result of a flow. The track might change but it is always a predetermined one.
I currently have a virtual switch that I turn on via a flow, that HK then reacts to to start a HK automation which is to play a specific track.
I have a virtual switch and HK automation pair per homepod mini. I have six homepod mini’s.
Can the ATV&HP app offer a more elegant solution?
Somehow its not working with Google TTS anymore.
Last time it really did. Something changed (in the software version of the app since my 1 st post about google TTS with it ?
Fixed it! Somehow I needed to restart your homey app.
But it didn’t show any warning/ red triangle
that its not working/able to connect to my devices. (Maybe also that’s also why it was so quiet the kast days without any sudden autoplay (in my living room & foyer. In my sleeping room I pulled the power plug on my HomePod mini to have a goodnight sleep).
I just did/looked at it and the memory use almost doesn’t change.
From 77.32 MB before playing the Google TTS to my 3 HomePod mini’s to 78.58 MB just after few seconds it was played on the normal webapp of Homey.
On the Homey developpers website (tools.developer.homey.app) its 129.9MB → 133.3MB →124.7MB Memory (RSS)
And 78.9MB → 82.3MB → 73.8 MB Memory (PSS)
Values: Before Test → Duration of the Test → few seconds after the end of the test/playing audio/speech
But on the Homey developpers website I can see some graphs for your app before, during and after the start of a test flow using GoogleTTS with your app before:
Just curious: Why don’t you test it yourself??
Seriously?
I’m sorry but this really ticks me off!
You should really learn to show some respect to people who write apps for Homey which you can use for free!
Why didn’t you write this app yourself?
@DoctorBazinga I do ofcourse test this app myself, that’s how I know that the app uses a lot of memory
I also know that based on usage of other users, and even between my three Homey Pro’s, memory usage can differ a lot, that’s why I asked. Even different kinds of audio files may give very different results, so just trying to get a general picture of everything.
Thanks for the data, helps a lot
This was really not meant disrespectful!
Not at all and very far away from it. But in my opinion this usage of the Apple TV & HomePods app in combination with the Google Services/ TTS could be (in the future) one of the most popular usage overall or at least the url possibility of the app. So I was really curious and little bit surprised that @BasMilius didn’t try to test it himself. But as you also see I provided the requested data.
.
I’m sorry if it came over disrespectful. It was really honestly just pure curiosity.
Have a nice weekend.
THANK YOU
VERY MUCH FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO !
Bas,
The issue had disappeared for a while, but it has now returned. The Apple TV & HomePod app is again frequently losing its connection to the Apple TV en we get a red triangle.

@Remco_Dekker Seems to be the companion link protocol. That protocol dynamically changes it port randomly and I don’t get port updates in the app using mDNS discovery. I have tried doing device discovery myself, which works outside the Homey environment, but that didn’t work on an actual Homey. I created an issue in the Homey SDK Issues repository but haven’t received any update yet.
For now… I can only say, restart the Apple TV & HomePod app until your Apple TV(s) decides to hold on to a port for a while. I’m actively looking to other solutions ![]()
Hi Bas,
Is it in the feature possible to read out the temperature en humidity sensor from the homepod?
Couldn’t this shaky/dynamicly changinmg port /protocol be the cause that sometimes its faulty (re)imprenteted as a “start play” or “unpause”command by the HomePod (mini’s) and so start the sudden autoplay bug I’m sometimes experiecing.
but I must say it occurs now fewer time on mi Homepods Mini in the living room. The HomePod mini is cuurently disconmnected from power to ensure a goodnight sleep for me.
Just a thought . ![]()
@LuukT Not anytime soon, I explain why here: Temperature and humidity sensor Homepod · Issue #5 · basmilius/homey-apple · GitHub
