[APP][Pro] Samsung SmartTV - Control your Samsung SmartTV

Yeah, would be nice to have some specific cards for The Frame models! Currently if I need to do something I just navigate the menu using a flow. Requires thorough testing though and a little bit of luck.

Awesome! Thx :clap:t4:

I am trying to turn on my 2025 model year Samsung Smart TV using this app, but the TV does not respond , although it does respond to turning it off.
Because I am also using the TV’s remote control, it seems the on/off status in the Homey app is confused. Sometimes, according to the event log, the TV shows the Status On in the middle of the night or a few hours after use (when the TV is off).

Can I or anyone else do something about this?

I have a 2018 model. The network module is not active when the TV is off/in standby. Hence you cannot switch it on via a network/IP command. Switching off does work (als the network module is on). What I read and understand is that this behavior is comparable for newer/other Samsung models.

So you need to switch it on via IR or (as an alternative) via SmartThings (that requires a cloud connection). I have no experience with the latter.

My work-around is that I don’t put my TV in standby, but switch it off completely via a smart plug. When I power on the smart plug, the TV automatically switches on. Then I need to wait approx 30. secs before I can send any IP commands (that is the time it takes for the network module to activate).

Be careful with that solution though. I had a yet older Samsung TV with which I also just cut the power (was my son’s gaming TV) and at some point it completely stopped working. Most likely power circuit got fried. Could be that this had to do with the power being cut so brutally time and again

Thanks for the tip :+1:. I don’t know whether that would also apply to my model. Another TV I had (Sony) even had a physical toggle switch that cut the power.

An extra reason to power down completely, is that the TV takes random periods before actually going into low power stand-by. Sometimes after a few seconds, sometimes after several hours during which it keeps consuming a relatively high amount of power.

I have been using this app for years with an older TV and it works flawlessly - also for switching the TV on and off.

I, however, remember that I had to do some settings on the TV in order to make this work.

Come to think of it (with that also going back more to the actual question that @Amersfoort ) has: I have been using this app to switch on a somewhat older TV in my bedroom on a daily basis as well. And I switch it off using this same app. This is working fine for me.

If it helps: on most of my devices I cut all sorts of energy saving, eco modes etc. Perhaps this is enabled on yours that way deactivating the network module in the TV

To be on the safe side: there are two Samsung TV apps. There is this app Samsung SmartTV | Homey and Samsung TV | Homey. This thread is on the first one. With the second one I had mixed experience
