Sleepy – A Smart Sleep Coach for Kids
I’d like to introduce Sleepy, a new Homey app designed to help children understand when it’s time to sleep, when it’s okay to wake up, and when it’s time to start the day.
Instead of using a separate sleep trainer, Sleepy turns your existing Homey devices into a smart and flexible sleep coach.
Bedtime & night
Sleepy can use motion sensors and smart lights to create a calm bedtime routine. Lights can automatically dim, change colour or switch off when your child falls asleep.
During the night, motion can be detected without immediately considering your child “awake”. You can also use a dim night light when movement is detected.
Too early, almost time… or good morning!
Sleepy can use different colours to help children understand the time:
Red – It’s still too early to get up
Orange – Almost time; perhaps read or play quietly
Green – Good morning! You can get up
The times and colours can be configured for each child.
Sleepy can react to actual movement, so the light doesn’t necessarily have to turn green just because a certain time has been reached. If your child is still sleeping, Sleepy can simply wait.
Weekdays, weekends and holidays
Bedtime isn’t always the same.
Sleepy supports different schedules for weekdays and weekends, and can also take holidays into account. This means you can have later wake-up times during weekends or school holidays without constantly changing your settings.

One Homey, multiple children
Each child gets their own Sleepy device with their own:
• Bedtime and wake-up schedule
• Motion sensors or zones
• Lights
• Colours and brightness
• Sleep behaviour
• Weekend settings
So every child can have a completely different routine.
Sleep history & timeline
Sleepy also keeps track of what happens during the night.
The timeline can show events such as:
Went to bed
Fell asleep
Movement during the night
Restless periods
Woke up early
Woke up
This makes it possible to get a simple overview of how the night went without turning Sleepy into a complicated sleep tracker.
Built for Homey
The idea behind Sleepy is to use devices you may already have: motion sensors, contact sensors, smart lights and Homey Flows.
Looking for testers
Sleepy is still being developed and I’d really like to hear what other Homey users think.
