# Water meter and gas meter

However, I did some research on the Internet and found in the FAQs that all iQ energyGuard devices can be read out using the MQTT protocol.  
This requires the **MQTT Broker** and **MQTT Client** apps. Alternatively, the **MQTT Server** app can also be used without any further apps, but I had some poor experiences with this app when too many MQTT topics (data) were received.
