I intend to install Homey Pro on a Ubiquiti NAS (UNAS Pro or UNAS 4). Does anyone in the community have experience with this and any tips, hints, or tricks to share, or perhaps a guide?
Many thanks for your support and help.
Regards, Greg

I think you mean Homey Self-Hosted Server?
Does the NAS support Docker containers?

Thanks for your reply. Sorry to be unprecise 🙂 .

No, Ubiquiti’s UniFi NAS devices running **UniFi OS** (such as the UNAS Pro or UNAS Drive) **do not natively support Docker containers** out of the box.

Ubiquiti designed UniFi OS strictly around its own ecosystem apps—primarily **UniFi Network** (for logs and backups), and **UniFi Drive** (for native file storage/SMB shares). Unlike general-purpose NAS operating systems UniFi OS does not include a GUI container manager or first-party app store for third-party self-hosted software.

**Out of the Box (GUI):** No support. You cannot pull images, deploy Docker Compose stacks, or manage containers from the UniFi OS web console.

**SSH / Command Line:** Because UniFi OS is built on a custom Debian-based Linux engine, the underlying OS _technically_ runs Docker internally for its own services. Experienced users can SSH into the device and run `docker` commands manually, but **this is not officially supported**.

That is what I can say about UNAS and what I know. But still may be someone has experienced about an installation via detours or is it better to look for a separate solution ?

When you need to use unsupported ways to run Docker & Homey on the UNAS, I wouldn’t do it:
Unifi seems to dislike foreign software / tools added to their NAS, changes are high the _current_ unsupported ways stop functioning one day, when you keep the unit updated.

And just to be sure: you **must** update it. Not updating your NAS is just asking for trouble, especially since malware often targets (outdated) NAS devices, since those are often exposed to the internet via port forwarding so the IP scanner bots will find it in no time. And even if you don’t expose it to the internet, or use a secure cloud tunnel for remote access (most NAS support this by default, Ubiquiti as well), it can still be compromised via another device in your LAN
