Is there a way I can transition from the current light settings, colour, state and illuminance into a mood rather than just set the mood on?

Steve

You can start any mood any time.

yes but how do you transition to one over time. It seems to be just immediately switch to the new mood rather than slowly bring it in or slowly dim away.

@Steve_Nye I think there are multiple ways to do this if the mood only adjusts brightness, and not color or on/off state is to configure the dimming duration on settings page of the lights if the app of the manufacturer supports that. This is of course not a one stop solution as there are many situations where this will not work. 1. Some manufacturers do not support this feature. 2. It only works on dim level, and not with any color setting or on/off state.

Another way to implement this is by using the [Circadian](https://homey.app/en-us/app/net.alistairs.circadian/Circadian-Lighting/) app.
With this app, you can create circadian zones. These zones act like lights, and they also work together with moods. When you add the circadian zone to a mode, and activate that mood, the circadian zone will go into manual mode. You can then create a flow that ties the values of the circadian zone to the actual light, and you can use the [Chronograph](https://homey.app/en-us/app/nl.fellownet.chronograph/Chronograph/) app to create a transition for this.

This implementation also has one limitation in that it can only adjust brightness and temperature. So it will not work with all possible RGB colors. But tbh, Unless you are a 16 year old TikTok influencer, this should be all you need.

Hi Steve,

I ran into the same limitation and ended up developing an app for it. It lets you fade into a mood over time instead of applying it instantly.

You can install it from the Homey App Store here:

> **[MoodFade | Homey](https://homey.app/en-us/app/com.winbigfox.moodfade/MoodFade/)**
>
> Fades lights smoothly to a mood.

Maybe this is exactly what you’re looking for 🙂

I was wondering if anyone here is already using it?

What are your experiences so far in terms of reliability, performance, and overall usefulness?

OT Thank you for creating this app. It sounds ideal, however I can’t get the Homey IP address setup! It appears to not allow a connection to port 80 but I could be wrong. Any chance you’ll be updating the app to not need an API key? Thanks again
