If that method is working better for you, than you should use that method of course!

In a different topic ([Where are my variables used](https://community.homey.app/t/where-are-my-variables-used/106587)) they suggest to use the app [Device Capabilities](https://homey.app/nl-nl/app/nl.qluster-it.DeviceCapabilities/Device-Capabilities/).  
Also in the topic [Variable used](https://community.homey.app/t/variable-used/154244) they suggest an other app namely [Flow Checker](https://homey.app/en-nl/app/com.athom.flowchecker/Flow-Checker/).

I have not used those apps myself, so I’m not sure if and how those works, but perhaps it could help you.
