I got opportunity to evaluate Zemismart ZM86-2Z Zigbee curtain motor and write a review about the device.

I’ve been using it for few days now and first impressions are in general positive.

This is what I received, the package was slightly damaged but contents were just fine:

RF-remote, the device itself, 4 types of adapters, charging cables and a install guide.

First I thought this will be a piece of cake but when I tried to use any of the adapters with IKEA’s U-rod (VIDGA) I realized this might take some time.

IKEA’s VIDGA has inner width is max 12,5mm whilst the smallest adapter is ~15mm… ☹

I managed to take the adapters apart and modify the wheels by making them 1-1,5mm thinner each and carefully re-assembling them. Then I realized that the wheels could could have been ~10mm instead of 7mm for smoother and quieter operation.

After that the installation was straight forward, install Zemismart app, pair with device, set start & stop positions and and pair the remote as “backup solution”.

At the moment I’m using IKEA’s motion sensor (old-ish VALLHORN) as luminance sensor (will be replaced soon) and by setting somewhat realistic lux-levels the curtains are opened/closed as configured.

The motor itself is really quiet but somewhat slow (I really don’t care but wife had a comment about the speed…).
The battery-life remains to bee discovered after some usage.

The only annoyance is the joints in the track; slightly larger wheels would have made the whole thing significantly quieter and smoother!
Right now, it creaks quite a bit at every joint…

Otherwise I really satisfied with the product and could easily give it a 4.5 of 5 rating!
