I wish I knew. Maybe it does a lot of retries or the way that Homey connects to the ECU is not the perfect way. I will search for other methods to connect. I did try it with the LAN port, but there was no data coming from that.

My installer mentions that connection through the LAN port should work, and better than WiFi…. But connecting to LAN does not work? did you connect the correct LAN?

 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex025/uploads/athom/original/3X/7/8/7868cd57ad3a87c505ccaf27bf871857bb5e809d.png)

Also the ECU connects through Zigbee to the converters. no way to connect to them directly? I don’t think they have any form of an API for that….

Yes I did. The other RJ45 can be used for Modbus. The LAN port works fine for the communication to APS and the website. There are two ports open, which did not respond to the commands like the WiFi does.

The Zigbee signals can be read, but that would require additional hardware. Though it might be interesting to see if Homey can connect. But I’m sure setup will be a bit more difficult.

Hi Dick, app is not working again also no data after restarting the app, see diagnostic report.

I can see there was a connection error (and a bug 😒). It seems that also HomeAutomation users sometimes suffer from that. See [HA for APS](https://community.home-assistant.io/t/apsystems-aps-ecu-r-local-inverters-data-pull/260835/72?page=11). But I also saw there that modifying the command might improve things, so I will test that.

I have it connected to the Lan connector. Not sure if it still picks the Wifi connection in that case, but it is still working. though still an occasional disconnect.

Diagnostics report, just to be complete.

and indeed, sometimes a VERY large amount, apparently my system can since today produce 100kW 😉 :

</div>

So it’s not only me with high power peaks. Very strange…

I have to let the app run from my pc to capture the data from the ECU. Maybe this weekend.

If connected to LAN, the app still uses the WiFi connection (the IP address also stays the same)

</div>

what’s strange, is that if I do a reset (PtP on the ECU and reset of the app), the data starts flowing again….

I have that in automatic flows, which keeps the system up, but it’s a patch at best:

 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex025/uploads/athom/original/3X/2/a/2adaa2bdad9b786b194a0759a4b886d5b0da1dc2.jpeg)

</div>

I usually only powercycle the ECU. But you’re right, it’s a patch.

I saw HA in the flow, that doesn’t have connection issues? I did see a small difference in sending commands to the ECU, compared to my commands, so I changed that in my test version and will see what will happen.

</div>

HA also has the same issues (though they don’t always have it at exactly the same moment, so it really is the sending of the ECU. Can I at least disable the connection warning?

I already relocated the ECU next to the wifi router → no improvement

Also moved it closer to the converters of the solar panels → no improvement

In my case if this happens, I have to do a power cycle of the ECU unit. It happened often, and thus put a mains switch on the ECU and cycle that automatically if that happens

Hi Patrick thanks for your reply.

And I also found out that restarting the ECU-R by disconnecting the power plug solve the problem but it’s not normal because it’s still sending the correct data without restarting the ECU-R to the APsystems servers and have the actual readings in the APsystems app.

Before the last update we didn’t have this problem and never had to PTP.

Best regards Peter.

Aah good that you found out that the chain is broken somewhere else, as I was convinced it was the ECU. Hopefully it can be solved.

I do also have a HA version picking up the data, and normally both go down at the same moment. will try to keep track if that is in deed the case
