# Smart home open standard 2021

In 2021 all major tech company’s are joining forces to announce an open standard for smart homes.  
I don’t see athom in the list, will they be joining?

Perhaps ask Athom? Looking at the goals of the first specification, it would require an entirely new hardware platform, so a completely different Homey. I doubt that Athom has the resources to develop such a device.
