Hello All,
I just bought a few A1Z smart plugs from Nous. Coupling works quick and easy, as long as I stay within 1m of my Homey Pro and they switch on and off correctly. Unfortunately, all three devices don’t switch reliably at a line-of-sight distance of 2m and don’t work at 5m anymore (just air, no walls). Are the devices faulty? Does anyone have any experience with those plugs?
THX, Michael

Max 3 to 5 meters is quite a normal signal range indoors.
But you probably don’t know they can extend the zigbee network?
[https://support.homey.app/hc/en-us/articles/10374465562652-Creating-a-stable-Zigbee-network-with-Homey-Pro-Early-2023](https://support.homey.app/hc/en-us/articles/10374465562652-Creating-a-stable-Zigbee-network-with-Homey-Pro-Early-2023)

Often interference shortens the usable range, or even cripples a zigbee mesh network.
Wifi 2.4GHz can interfere badly (including close neighbour’s wifi signals)
Make sure to set the channel to preferably 1, 6 or 11 and set the zigbee channel to a non- or low interfering one

An underpowered adapter can lead to instability in the Zigbee network. Always ensure you’re using a reliable adapter providing at least 2A. Power fluctuations can cause disconnections or communication failures, especially un…

I do have a lot of this devices and on many places also after a range extender in the gardenhouse.

No problems at all. Reliable, stable and useful.

Are they running the latest firmware? Perhaps that could maybe improve, but not sure about that, because on the previous firmware I did not find any trouble as well

Potentially they are.

I have 30+ sockets that I was using with Homey Pro. After migrating to Homey SHS I had trouble adding some devices to my Homey Bridge. Potentially this was related to the number of devices pushing the Homey Bridge to its limits, but I was also unable to pair one specific socket back on the Homey Pro.

Also, after installing zigbee2mtqq using a Sonoff Dongle M, that same socket would not pair. I came across the following issue on the zigbee2mtqq GitHub:

>
> When trying to toggle the on/off button of the Nous A1Z in t…he Zigbee2Mqtt menu nothing happens and a timeout message pops up. The reported linkquality was always around 100.

> Set up a network with the sonoff adapter and the Nous A1Z with lqi of 100. After a few days no commands can be sent to the plug anymore.

One user reported that, when keeping a faulty device close to a working device, it was possible to control it. I can confirm that this appears to be working. I’m now in the process of updating the socket to the latest firmware to see if this somehow resolves the issue.
