I needed a Zigbee outdoor plug with metering and found a Osram Smart+ outdoor plug on Amazon. One reviewer wrote that he had it included as a generic Zigbee device in his Homey 2019 Pro (same as mine) and all metering functions worked. After a bit of faffing I managed to get the plug included in my Homey I saw that it is identified as a Ledvance Plug Compact EU EM T in dev tools (EM= energy monitor?). Turns out that I already have one of those but labeled Ledvance.

However, for me there is no metering data for any of those plugs. I installed the Osram Smart+ Homey app and tried to use it to include the plug, but I got a message that there is no app for the device so it will be included as a generic device.

Does anyone know how I can get the monitoring to work? If it’s not possible I will have to return the plug, since the monitoring feature is a deal breaker for the application I need the plug for.

Cheers

Paxman

Update:

I asked AI to help me and “we” were able to confirm (using Interview in dev tools) that the plugs are sending the metering data to Homey. So this is not a plug issue…it’s something wrong within Homey.

Homey does not support energy readings on a generic Zigbee device, the only features are on/off, dim and temperature/color control.

Have you tried any of the OSRAM and Ledvance apps?

What throws me off is the reviewer on Amazon that writes that he included the plug as a generic Zigbee device and yet have all the metering. 🤔 This is his review:

_“Very satisfied. It goes in as “generic” in Homey Pro and you can monitor both energy use in kWh and Watt and all other functions are there too even though there is no special app (neither Osram nor Ledvance).”_

I’ll do some more testing with the Osram and Ledvance apps to see if I can get them to include the plugs correctly. The Ledvance plug has never had any metering…to be honest I didn’t even realise it is a monitoring capable plug until I saw it next to the Osram plug in dev tools and noticed that both were marked the same under model ID.

Maybe they mean the Tuya generic device (when you have a Tuya Zigbee or MultiMode gateway)? OSRAM/LEDVANCE are Tuya based AFAIK, so a Tuya gateway might work.
