I know, my house has 3 floors with concrete floors and walls.

Unfortunately, I just need more routers. 💪

Feel the pain

I have 12 GU10s and about 10 plugs and it’s only just started to get reliable

Zigbee doesn’t need anywhere near as many powered devices to work flawlessly. It’s one of the huge frustrations with Thread at the moment, it hasn’t been through two decades of optimisation yet.

I would argue it’s about the quality of your routers too.

IKEA Grillplats just don’t have very good Thread radios. Eve Energy are the best I’ve used thus far.

You can do that via the Thread Network Diagnostics mobile app you can find in the Google Play Store or iOS App Store.

Does the app see mater over thread devices of just matter over WiFi?

As the app is the Thread Network Diagnostics app, it can be used to troubleshoot your Thread networks.

Not sure if this is the optimum way of doing things for everyone, but this is what works for me

ISP Router should be set to Channel 1 and bandwidth 20MHz
Homey Thread should be on Channel 20 (you might need a factory reset to get this done)
Other Zigbee networks in your home (for example Phillips Hue) should be set to Channel 25

That’s the best configuration I’ve found to have Thread, Zigbee and Matter over WiFi devices playing as nicely as possible in the same ecosystem.

Are you sure about that?

Because Zigbee channels 20 and 25 (partly) overlap with WiFi channel 11 (in its sideband).

WiFi channel 1 would sound more logical as that does not overlap with the two Zigbee channels you mention at all.

I experienced similar issues as described above. However, I got it to work thanks to all the tips in this thread.

1. Reboot iPhone (iOS 26) and Homey Pro (Early 2023)
2. Start set-up via Homey iOS app through the IKEA plug-in and select GRILLPLATS.
3. Choose for setting up via iOS
4. Have iPhone on top of GRILLPLATS plug and nearby Homey Pro (see picture)
5. And had a successful install after waiting a few minutes

Hope this helps for other people struggling to connect the GRILLPLATS plugs to their Homey set-up.

I also have similar issues, I tried most of scenarios listed in this thread but without success

wierd is that I have succesfully paired 3 IKEA BILRESA buttons via matter, but did not have any luck with the Grillplats plugs. I managed to get it paired via zigbee but then the power monitoring does not work 😕 i will probably return all my Grillplats and buy some inspellning (Ikea zigbee plugs) while there are some in stock

I bought 10 Plugs and no problem by install! I have a Homey Pro 2026. Where I have problems is by the Scroll and Dual buttons install. After a long time everythings works now.

I had issues with grillplats plugs for a couple of weeks now. I did log a support ticket and apparently the workaround was using an android device just to add grillplats plugs. issue at the time was just these plugs from ikea and the other ikea matter devices were not affected. I don’t have an android device available nor do i know anyone that i could borrow one. I received a response from support recently that there was an update to homey and matter is version 1.5 and improvements to Matter/Thread commissioning.

I did try this again recently after updating my homey hub. i didnt have much trouble adding grillplats plugs on my homey pro 2023 hub. i started with one plug near the homey hub. then the second one i tried adding it a bit further away and didnt have too much trouble. this is also using the homey option also when adding grillplats plugs.

on a side note i didnt have any issues adding the ikea matter door/window sensor, air quality sensor or water leak sensor. i just couldnt add more devices yet as i wanted to build my thread mesh network first.

Thread Diagnostics app is the one you want, but its still quite difficult to identify devices because the ‘node ID’ that Homey exposes isnt something Google uses to identify devices

Argh. My Grillplats plug worked totally fine for many months. yesterday it was suddenly no longer connected. Repaired it, worked immediately, no issues. But today it was again disconnected and now I cannot get it to work anymore! Also not via the Android workaround. This sucks. It’s an important part in my home automation…
