It’s rather for historical reasons as Athom was really strict on publishing apps. These days it’s (mostly) about following the publishing rules, information, graphics, descriptions etc. Not such a big deal but yeah, Community store is little bit more relaxed in all the aspects and naturally there is no review behind. Also I guess such apps can’t auto-generate crash logs with stack trace so developers are free from questions from users completely.

I’m trying to log in to SSH using a MacBook.

Does anyone know how to do this, as the instructions for this are not yet available on the HC Store website?

The main issue seems to be that there are now multiple Community app stores, which makes it harder for non-tech-savvy users to keep using all the apps they would like. Currently there seem to be 3 stores, 1 official and 2 community, but the risk is that more developers at some point will move away from the official store and start their own store too.

In my opinion, the community (store) devs should try to work together to have just 1 community app store, this simplifies things for normal users, but working together might also make it easier for other devs from the community store to help out or even take over the maintenance if the official app developer wants to stop developing it (of course only if they agree with it). In the case of different stores even, if that were to happen, it would mean apps have to be migrated to another store etc, making it even more complicated for normal non-tech-savvy users.

In the end, all developers are developing lovely apps that everyone enjoys every day, and I get not everyone can or will be able to publish their app in the official store, but can we as a community please all try to get along and create the best solution for the Homey users, so that everyone can keep enjoying the amazing apps being built.

PS. I’m not taking any side, just trying to see how we can keep things as easy as possible for the Homey users 👍

Most likely these: [Athom Legal](https://legal.athom.com/?document=terms-of-use&language=en). I suppose the App Store is part of the services indicated at 1.1.IV.

Yes, when you’re in a conflict with Athom and change your app so users get these messages:

 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex025/uploads/athom/original/3X/2/1/212201761fd40a8e89786bc42d5627c0f7e97e17.png)

I can imagine that’s some sort of violation. Does also say something about the review process though if it is indeed a violation.

</div>

And I guess 7.3 is where Athom has found a reason to terminate the account (although I’m not sure exactly which part).

I wonder: when Athom does so, does that make your Homey useless? Because that would be quite some legal quicksand.

This is not about on this app but Athom mutilated there own app.
You have to go to a non Athom app to let your flows running.

How can I be sure that my flows are save to run.
If both things happen once then it can happend again.
Count the Windows problem thereby and I am lost.

It seem that Athom has more interesting in hardware now.

There might be a difference in de-activating a user’s account on this forum and de-activating a user’s Homey account altogether.

Why I was asking is because it doesn’t really make sense to me to deactivate a user’s account on this forum if they (supposedly) breached app store rules.

Hmm 🤔, that’s a fair point.

Worst case you would need to reset your Homey and start from scratch with a new/different account (not sure if you would be able to restore a back-up that was made through a different account).

That would basically still be a remote soft-bricking.

It would. Though this is based on assumptions. We don’t know what the actual mechanism is and what remains possible for a user who’s account is invalidated.

</div>

Also, the apps seem to now be in the official app store again, although other (older) versions, so it seems like someone restored them?, for example, [Loops](https://homey.app/en-nl/app/nl.mennovanhout.loops/Loops/). But if I search for the app I cannot find it anymore, but can still find other apps from this developer.

By banning the developer from this community forum, the developer can no longer provide support for his apps, which can cause issues for users of this app.

So I don’t know exactly what is going on and why, but it all seems a bit weird to me.

Unless that someone was the developer themselves, that would be another interesting legal situation.
