You only need to mount the HP’s eMMC locally on your computer, which can be done with Raspberry Pi tools, no jailbreaking required.

Well, I migrated from Homey Pro 2023 to HSHS, but I did it little bit differently. Instead of buying Homey Bridge I chose Home Assistant to serve as Homey’s antenna.

HSHS (LXC) and HA (VM) run on Proxmox. HA handles all the devices requiring an antenna (Zigbee, Z-Wave, Thread and Bluethoot"). Homey handles Wifi and Cloud and works as a brain of the system, handling all the complicated automations and calculations. (I did leave some simple automations to HA, like press button - lights turn on.)

The work of transferring all the devices was taunting, but definitely worth it. The quality of antennas: SMLIGHT SLZB-MRW10U (P10+Z-Wave) and SMLIGHT SLZB-06Mg24U (EFR32MG24) that both work via Poe is amazing. Pairing the devices was sooo smooth compared to Homey Pro and the possibilities to tweak the network is byond anything.

Anyone here who has the same setup?

That would be my dream setup! - All the work, however, to pair 200+ devices with HA and then fix all the flows in Homey gives me the creeps…

How did you get all devices from HA into Homey?

Like I said a taunting task, but I took it as an opportunity to make things better. I made a proper plan, tried to take into account all the mistakes that I made with the earlier system and got rid of some of the devices I didn’t really need and replaced some crucial devices like Melcloud and switched it to ESP Home module.

But its manual labor for the most part; I unpaired every device and paired them to HA again and used Home Assistan Community app to bring those entities to Homey that I need in my automations. HA picks up much more information from some of the devices than Homey.

Keeping the mass of raw data in HA, the Homey is light and fast for the complex automations.

You can fix affected flows quite easy by using this magnificent script below:

This is really a great setup. I’m doing the same now. I have added an old Z-Wave stick and an RFCom device to my Proxmox host, where HA is running. I’m moving devices one by one to HA and then re-adding them to my Homey Pro '23. Once this process is completed, I will restore the complete setup to my Homey SHS.

I only use Z-Wave, KaKu, Wi-Fi, API, MQTT, and Matter/Thread devices. So I think I only need to find a solution or way to connect the Matter devices through HA. I only have two or three of them, I think — mostly door/window sensors.

I don’t understand they don’t give a option to use a homey pro or reflash a pro as a bridge for people that already have one. I want to keep it native and easy. And don’t want to buy a new device if the pro already has everything.

What we want: use homey pro 2023 or 2026 as homey bridge for homey shs (more ram). Maybe also add thread support.

If this works I am switching to homey SHS directly!

If I had gone through moving my Homey to Home Assistant, I would not have then added it back to Homey. I would now be a Home Assistant user and Homey would be out of my life.

The fact is if users are not given an easy path to upgrade and stay in the Homey product line and are forced to do everything manually to transition, the extra lift to transition to something other then Homey is great. You have a high percentage chance of your user base just switching to a different platform.

I will never buy an Android Phone because Apple makes it so easy to upgrade your phone, its basically one copy/paste = done. If I had to manually do everything over, I would 100% try an Android phone.

I am already thinking of ditching Homey because I got a Mini and smashed the RAM cap right away. You all are complaining about capping the full Pro so I am looking to see my options. Transition to a full Pro and risk capping that as well or get something to self-host and deal with that. I guarantee if I decide to self-host, I’ll just go with Home Assistant and have AI write my automations since I know all my cameras will work with HA (they don’t with Homey). No way I am dealing with HA/Homey and Apple Home.

You know you can sell your Homey Pro for like $300 and buy 4 bridges… right. or 2 bridges and 2 Aqara M2s.

Just out of interest, which cameras are you missing on Homey? Many of the cheap models like OSAIO/GNCC, Tapo, Tuya, EZVIZ and Imou are already supported on Homey.

Offtopic, but for years and years it’s dead easy to migrate from one Android to an other Android phone, in several different ways.

You can always “just” copy the db and user partition files / folders to the new homey, and edit the db to the new settings / id ..
Not really just one click. But..

Great, I’m sure it is, but iPhone to android or android to iPhone is not, which was the point.
