I am looking to buy a Homey Bridge but it is vital that I can use an app which triggers when rain is expected at my location within x minutes. An app that does not require a physical device to measure rain fallen but relies on weather services.

The result would, for example, be that my sunshades are retracted in time.

Is there such a thing available or is this only possible with a Homey Pro?

There are a ton of weather apps for Homey and I think most support what you are asking. Personally I use [Weather Forecast App for Homey | Homey](https://homey.app/en-us/app/no.yr/Weather-Forecast/)

Thnx but that one is only available for the Homey Pro. I need an app that works with the Homey Bridge

“Tool” apps aren’t available for Homey Cloud.

@robertklep ok, thnx.

Sadly, then I need to look for something else. (Pro is too expensive for me)

You even don’t need a. Bridge. Just sign up for free and explore the available apps and look for a weather service that works for your location.

For sunshades though, I think the best solution is a rain sensor.
Weather services are not the most precise tools.

There’s very cheap DYI (just two wires) ones, like Aqara flood sensor (Homey bridge supported), connected to a special circuit board, which closes the circuit as soon as water drops appear:

>
> Hi Richard, The sensor you can find on aliexpress don’t need to order the switch as you can’t connect that to Homey. The casing you will have to print yourself or let it print in a shop. Drawing you czn find in the link below. Like in the link and go to remix

> [@Home made rain sensor idea](https://community.homey.app/t/home-made-rain-sensor-idea/29117/28):
>
> Hi, yes, the alarm stays on if there is still water on the sensor. At summer it’s not the problem. It will dry fast. At cold days with high humidity, even due will raise the alarm. For normal rain, I put a piece of aluminium tape at the bottom edge. So the water will not stay at the border but drips of.

.

Ready to go, but 3 to 4 times more expensive, and bridge supported:
Popp rain meter: POPP Z-RAIN (700168)

> **[POPP](https://homey.app/nl-nl/app/com.popp/POPP/)**
>
> Engineered in Germany.

If there is a http request card and a JSON logic card available for HomeyCloud, then it’s possible to do http request to an API (OpenWeatherMap or OpenMeteo).

@Peter_Kawa could you please check if these cards are available?

For Homey cloud premium:
Http request: yes
JSON: no

~~It also lacks~~ Homeyscript isn’t available.
