there are a lot of threads regarding grillplats on the forum.

and Homey is a border router, so you can connect them but Ikea has some issue with connecting when you start with the first devices on thread.

advice first connect the powered devices. before you do the battery sensors.

That will definitely **not** work, Homey SHS does not support external dongles. You’ll need an IKEA Dirigera in that case and use the “IKEA Dirigera” Homey app

just noticed you are using SHS, then you need to buy a Homey Bridge.

Then you will have all protocols available.

No, Thread does not work on Homey Bridge. Like I said earlier, you need the IKEA Dirigera

But you said you don’t have an apple tv, and you needed something cheap. Then buy the Dirigera and add it as a matter in shs

Maybe via HomeKitty and Apple Home automations, you might be able to replicate some functionality in Homey if you have an Apple TV, but energy measurement probably won’t be possible as you’d need an automation in Apple for each possible energy value

The problem with the IKEA DIRIGERA hub is that it mainly focuses on IKEA products. If I want to buy smart home devices from other brands, do I need to buy a separate hub for each brand? Since I’m building my smart home around Homey, I want everything to work together through one central system. I don’t want to end up buying five different hubs just to connect all my smart home devices. I want a setup where I can mix products from different brands without needing a separate hub for each one.

Not directly with Homey →
A Sonoff ZBDongle-E is a zigbee only dongle by the way, you’ll need something like a [SMLight Hub](https://smlight.tech/products/smhub).
Homey should be able to use it as TBR.

You’ll possibly need an MQTT Broker & Client, there are Homey apps available.

A Thread device? That won’t work AFAIK, but I have no experience with Zigbee 2 Mqtt

Yes, but only for every Thread device of each different brand. If your Zigbee, Z-Wave, RF, BLE or IR devices are supported by Homey, you can use Homey Bridge as well
