Hello everyone,

I’m developing a Homey app (SDK v3, TypeScript) to connect the iLuv SmartShaker3, a Bluetooth LE vibrating cushion, to Homey Pro (Early 2023).

My goal is to use the cushion to alert or wake up deaf and hard-of-hearing people through vibrations when a home alarm is triggered.

The problem:

Device discovery and connection work correctly.

GATT writes to characteristic 0000ffd1-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb fail with Not paired.

Notifications on FFD2 fail with the same error.

The same device works on macOS using Python bleak, which handles pairing and encryption automatically.

I can’t find any pairing or bonding method in the Homey SDK v3 BLE API. The official Homey BLE developer tool returns the same error.

My question: Is there a way to initiate BLE pairing/bonding through the Homey SDK v3? If not, is this functionality planned?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

No, you cannot bond/pair a device in the Homey Apps SDK. This means that it isn’t possible to build a Homey app for the device
