Hello,

After I took a backup I wanted to do an update and it seems it’s stuck for a while.
what can I do?

Define ‘a while’ please. If it’s 10 mins, just wait a bit longer.

I’d give it another half an hour. I can’t say if it’s harmless to reset (by using the pin) or power it off and on.
Does the led ring show anything?

The led ring is “breathing” orange.

That matches with the fw update ‘event’

Actually it’s in **Rotating Orange** state. The thing is that the progress bar is in the same place for 1h already.

**Rotating Orange** — Homey Pro is doing something while in [DFU Mode](https://support.homey.app/hc/en-us/articles/7263435817116). This can be either installing an update, resetting to factory settings, creating or restoring a local backup.

PtP,
What version is it now?
try online (not on Computer)
or try with a different short cable on the computer, USB A-to C, also try another Port if possible.

now it’s 10.0.0-rc.122. it was updated automatically.
I can’t blame the cable in my case because the backup worked ok. I used an apple usb-c cable.

For anyone else finding this thread like I did, my firmware update via usb also got stuck like this for well over an hour. But mine was not ok again when I unplugged it and powered it up untethered. It just sat there spinning white forever rather than starting up.

I fixed mine by plugging into USB again and reverting to a previous local backup that I had fortunately just taken.

I just also did a USB backup then decided I would like the firmware up to date and started that process. It went completly trough the update firmware phase then it started a verify phase at which time the status bar appeared to be 100% full and it did not come out of that stage. T then after reading all of this thread and waiting for an hour and a half decided to unplug it. when I unplugged it, Screen popped up and said succesfuly installed latest firmware.

After powering back up in USB to on regular power all worked perfect.

I had the same situation, verifying forever after FW update step.
I updated the Chrome webpage and then it came back with the menu to backup etc.
Unplugged the usb C cable and started the unit.
White rotating light and then there its was again working.

I found that (in my case) it is really important to use a good quality USB cable. So not just a cable intended for powering but data transfer too.
Preferably USB-A to USB-C, so not the one provided with Homey.

Had the same problem: firmware (or backup restore) completed, but verification didn’t complete.
After replacing the cable, both were completed in considerable time.

Well tonight I have decided to Do the update to v12.2.0 stable. Same as the last time I tried the update process with USB to PC new data cable. The update completed successfully then it went to verify and got stuck. Looks like I will be unplugging this again to complete update. Can anyone tell me how long the Verify process is suppose to take.

This was the result just as before when I unplugged the Homey.

Using a high quality usb-a to usb-c DATA cable seems important. Not the one supplied by Athom.
Verification can take quite a while, but should succeed when using the right cable.

But I have had a perfect working Homey as well, if I disconnected it while verifying.

Same issue with me. But just to make sure, when you unplug de power is lost? Then what?
