[This thread](https://community.home-assistant.io/t/individual-energy-usage-is-erratic/460417) on the HA forum mentions erratic energy reporting by Fibaro and Aeotec devices, which seems similar to what you’re seeing.

Perhaps some devices emit invalid values occasionally, and without filtering away those values they will mess up energy usage totals.
