**The Energy-tab is back! And it’s better than ever! ⚡**

Welcome to the megathread for the all-new Energy-tab, which is currently in public beta. We’re set out the reimagine the energy experience within Homey, leveraging your existing devices in a completely new way.

Homey Energy helps you monitor your home’s realtime energy usage, and view historic data to compare between days, weeks, months and years.

Homey Energy can monitor electricity, gas & water. Dynamic electricity prices are also available.

Homey Energy works best with the recently announced Homey Energy Dongle, but also works with a variety of 3rd party smart meters.

## Requirements

Homey Pro (Early 2023) with [v12.3.0 or later](https://support.homey.app/hc/en-us/articles/12199889665308-Enabling-experimental-updates-on-Homey-Pro-2023), or Homey Cloud.

## Getting Started

Install the latest version of the Homey app, and the all-new Energy-tab will appear.

## FAQ

**Do I need the Homey Energy Dongle?**  
You do not need the [Homey Energy Dongle](https://homey.app/homey-energy-dongle/) to use the Energy-tab in the Homey app. Third party smart meters may also work, but we cannot guarantee the same level of experience.

**Is Energy available for Homey Pro (2016 — 2019)?**  
The new Energy features are not available for older generations of Homey Pro.

**When will the Homey Energy Dongle ship?**  
The current timeline is that the Homey Energy Dongle will ship in March 2025.

**I don’t see any historic data?**  
Your historic energy data will start logging once your Homey Pro has installed v12.3.0. Every day, week, month and year an energy report will be created.
