# Homey and z-wave numbering

I had to re-add a device, however the number assigned it always the next number. So there is no re-use of previous numbers. I have 10 devices connected, and they number from 1 till 21. I do not know how this z-wave numbering exactly works, however if I remove a device with number 20 using the normal removal and re-add it again, I expect it to get ID 20 again. Is there any way to solve this? Is this a bug or normal behaviour?

@Ray Z-wave numbering is handled by the Z-wave core… and it take the next ID for each new device / attempt, until the ID reached 233… then it will start re-useing (second itteration) ID’s…
So normal behavior.
