# Flow to start the dishwasher

I want to have my Siemens dishwasher run during the hours when electricity is cheapest.
I’ve created a flow for this (though it didn’t actually start today), but the next wash cycle isn’t tomorrow—it’s the day after. Essentially, I want it to run every other day during the cheapest hours, but there doesn’t seem to be an app that supports the settings I’m looking for. Or did I just not look hard enough?
I’m using a Homey Pro Mini with a Homey Bridge.

I am not sure about an app for the cheapest hour, but for the every other day you could perhaps use the default “day/time - today is a (days)” card in the AND part of the flow. For “(days)” you select the days you want to dishwasher to run.

what is the issue, firing to the Siemens? starting the dishwasher, calculating the start time, or using a flexible timing?
this is a simple one I am using now (using PBTH and it’s 8 hour window) and then starting 1 hour earlier than that

Let me describe it even more clearly.
Day 1:
a) Dishwasher is ready for remote start.
b) Waits for the hour with the cheapest electricity.
c) Starts the program.
Day 2: Do nothing
Day 3: Same as Day 1
Day 4: Do nothing
Day 5: Same as Day 1
Day 6: Do nothing
Day 7: Same as Day 1
Day 8: Do nothing
etc.
That is why I cannot use the ‘normal’ days

You could define a yes/no variable that indicates whether today is a dishwasher day.
At the start of each day (00:00) you set the variable via a flow: check whether the current value is Yes. If so, set it to No otherwise to Yes. This way the variable alternates between Yes → No → Yes → No etc. every subsequent day.
Then, as part of your dishwasher start flow, you check if the variable is set to Yes and only continue in that case.

PbtH has flow cards for the average 2 or 3 consecutive hours. Aand that is what you want! It should be the cheapest period during the entire cycle, not just the cheapest start hour!
