As I understand it, it is currently not possible to see the energy usage of my lights in the **Energy** tab. I do have the estimated power consumption configured for all of my Hue lights, so it’s a shame that this information isn’t being used. I realize these values are only estimates and not actual measurements, but they would still provide a reasonable approximation.

Personally, I would love to see the estimated energy usage of my light fixtures included in the **Energy** tab. It would provide more insight into their overall consumption and would also motivate me to create more efficient lighting automations.

Does anyone else feel the same? Would you find it useful if Homey used the configured estimated power values for lights in the **Energy** tab, even if they are only approximations? I’d be interested to hear how many people would like to see this as a feature, before I submit a feature request.

I can see the estimated powerconsumption of my Hue-lights in the hall in the energy tab. So I guess you want to see the total powerconsumption of all your lights.
You could divide your home in two subzones: ‘lights’ and ‘other devices’. And have in both subzones the usual subzones: ‘livingroom’, ‘bedroom’ etc.

For me, it works just fine

Are you sure that your lights have estimate configured correctly?

I believe the @Qx5 is refering to the Energy **tab** (at the bottom of the screen):

 ![IMG_2739](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex025/uploads/athom/original/3X/5/2/529a16779efd43289bc1f9dbf99d8d36d8ecd4e1.jpeg)

Not the Energy **tile** (at the top of the screen):

 ![IMG_2740](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex025/uploads/athom/original/3X/d/d/ddba2b9c421e0282c60089f010946585c4cfa8bc.jpeg)

The Energy tab has an overview of top consumers. That overview indeed does not include devices without actual power measurement capabilities.

So devices for which an estimated power usage can be configured, but don’t have actual power measurement capabilities, are currently not included in the top consumers overview.

Oh okay, I only have a Pro 2019 so I don’t have that newer Energy tab

@smarthomesven and @Wim_Post thanks for your replies. I actually forgot this energy tile was available. It’s useful for seeing the live usage.

But like @SunBeech mentioned I was indeed talking about the energy tab on the newer versions. Seeing the usage in their would enable to see totals for specific days, weeks, months.

That’s correct. We currently don’t display estimated values in Homey Energy, as they can muddy the overview and make your energy data less reliable. Instead, Homey Energy only shows actual measured values from smart plugs or devices that report their own power consumption.

Hi @Doekse, Thanks for clarifying Athom’s point of view! Personally, I still think that an estimate is valuable information, especially for the Lights class, where the estimation is generally quite reliable.

I think the Energy tab, with its configurable information widgets, would be an excellent place to optionally display the estimated energy usage of your home’s lighting, similar to the existing **Top Consumers** widget.

Would something like this be possible?

Agree; I too like to see lights and other devices without energy measurements in the energy tab based on the estimated usage. Possibly with a toggle to include estimates or not. In my view, the estimates are better than completely missing data in that tab.

The Top Consumers section in the Energy tab now also includes devices with an estimated energy consumption 👍.

This is very cool! Must have been in the works already with how fast it appeared in the new firmware.

I was a bit disappointed that it doesn’t combine lights that are grouped together (e.g. 6 hue spots in one ceiling fixture), but I just now realized I can just increase the approximated power usage of one spot times 6 and remove the power approximation from the other 5 to get a similar result.

Thanks Athom \<3
