Could you implement critical notifications in the ios app?
Critical notifications can play a sound even when the iPhone is muted.
Could be usefull for alarm, doorbell,… apps.

I use now pushover, which works fine, but a native Homey integration would be nice.

Home Assistant and Ring have this in their app.

You have to ask Athom: [https://support.athom.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016121734-How-to-request-a-new-feature](https://support.athom.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016121734-How-to-request-a-new-feature)

The community (which this forum is for) cannot implement support for this.

I think this is possible with Pushover (requires an additional app on your iphone)

Yeah I use Pushover.

But a native integration would be nicer.

I made a feature request

Hi all,

Ever since iOS12, Apple allows apps to send Critical Alerts.
These are alerts that, when allowed on the phone, will be showed regardless of the state of the phone (like muted).

These alerts can be used for emergency notifications like a a triggered home security/fire alarm.

 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex025/uploads/athom/original/3X/a/0/a07bfa298aa69f438db2fa853974a01f5d52bed6.png)

@Homey developers: Is there any chance you could request this with [Apple](https://stackoverflow.com/questions/66057840/ios-how-do-you-implement-critical-alerts-for-your-app-when-you-dont-have-an-en)?
Since HomeAssistant already has this functionality implemented, I figure it wouldn’t be too much of an issue for Homey either.

Thanks,
Rick

I see that you requested this feature a year ago. Sad to see that it has not been implemented yet.

While awaiting implementation in the Homey app, note that you can achieve much the same with [pushsafer.com](http://pushsafer.com). I just tested it with my iPhone, and was able to send critical alerts from Homey.

Perfect for when you want to get those important notifications from e.g. smoke detectors, motion or water leakage sensors.

Edit: Corrected link.

Would this be the feature requested in this topic?

I saw this in the release notes of the mobile app version 9.2.1 build 1734 for iOS/iPadOS.

I don’t seem to understand how to actually create/send such a critical notification, e.g. via a flow.

Yes that would make sense. However, that specific flow card is not available in my case. Do you perhaps also need the experimental Homey firmware update? As I am using the latest live firmware version (v12.4.1).

</div>

Yes you need latest experimental firmware to get the extra flow card. However it still doesn’t appear to work for me. Other apps with critical alerts have an extra setting available in notification settings for that app but Homey app not showing that setting so it looks like the Homey app isn’t correctly hooking into iOS yet.

Somewhere on this forum you can find posts about “unlocking” more or all notifications.

Log out and log in again from Homey app was one of those (on top of my head).

No problem.

I found some more possible fixes:

> [@Homey app not showing in settings -\> notifications on iPhone IOS 17.4 after reinstall](https://community.homey.app/t/homey-app-not-showing-in-settings-notifications-on-iphone-ios-17-4-after-reinstall/106118/5):

> Have found the solution for the push notification. In de app select … (bottom right), then select your Homey, now you get the question if Homey may send messages, say yes. Now Homey is available in the notification list on the iphone.

Maybe you can edit the notification list?

> [@Missing push notifications on iOS 18](https://community.homey.app/t/missing-push-notifications-on-ios-18/116685/3):

> FWIW, that wasn’t enough for me to fix it, I had to remove the iOS app completely, then reinstall it, then log in to my HP2023, switch to my HP2019, then switch back to my HP2023, and at that point I got the “Do you want to receive notifications” popup. Instead of switching between Homey’s, logging out and back in might be enough too, but the reinstall was necessary for me.

Thanks again. Uninstalling the mobile app and reinstalling from test flight, then signing in again was indeed enough to trigger the app to ask me to enable notifications. Bit after doing so, the mobile app still doesn’t have critical alert notifications in settings. This is the settings for Homey vs the settings for pushover for example which does have critical alerts working.

Does anyone have this working with iOS? I’m thinking this beta feature just not functional yet.

I noticed yesterday that it now exists. I turned it on, but so far I haven’t noticed anything…

Possibly you have to select at the flow whether this message should be critical or not. But I haven’t tested it yet, but it would make sense from my point of view…
