# Create us a NIO app?

Anyone willing and able to create an app to control NIO cars?
I have ordered a NIO ET5, and kinda need an app in homey, mostly to control start and stop of charging. I rent an apartment, so I can not install any smart charger.
Of course it would be nice to be able to control any possible aspects of the car.

NIO has launched their new open API, and of course, we applied right away. This was their response:
> Nice to meet you, and thank you for your interest in the NIO Vehicle API. We’ve already come across your company’s name in some of our user feedback.

Any updates on this? Does it mean maybe for the Firefly an app could be build with the help of the Nio Vehicle API?

Unfortunately, NIO hasn’t been responding to my calls lately. It was off to a great start, but after that I never really heard back from them. I also haven’t seen them onboarding any new partners to their API recently.

I really hope they’re going to get in touch with you again. I sincerely hope they’ll going to implement Firefly as wel, which is a sub brand from Nio
