For me I decided that Philips Hue is the best so far. Very responsive, precise and works easy directly with Homey. Not most cheap though. Couple of others I’ve tried are either cloud based (hence, potentially candidates for similar threads) or have strange behaviour. Like to set a color, it needs to be set twice. Or are randomly switching between controlling components, if there are more than one.

Philips Hue. Best quality and reliability. We have also a lot of [Paul Neuhaus Q series](https://www.paul-neuhaus.de/smart-home-leuchten/) lights - all ZigBee/Hue compatible.

Is there a workaround today to get Tuya Dimmers to Homey? Until, and if, this situation gets resolved.

Does anyone know of any similar lights to Hue that have duration dimming cards?

They are a serious time saver to creating Chronograph flows, but it’s not just financially practical to have everything Hue.

Yes, it fits with my feeling of ‘jammer de bammer’… if they can fix it, ok , if they can’t also ok apparently. I never got the feeling this was a pants on fire situation for homey, as they have many other platforms they support. What they seem to not get, or are not interessted in: for some people, tuya support was a decision driver (and considering the ‘official’ status of the app, tuya beeing cloud only should not matter). I bought the homey bridge to test the ecosystem before comitting to the homey pro (since i will need a range extender later on anyways), but im now very doubtful if i will proceed. I moved away from Home Assistant because of integration hassle and stability, only to meet the exact same issues, but now i payed for hardware and a montly fee. Maybe I misunderstood the ‘offical’ stamp on the tuya homey app, but I really thought that official ment: we think this is important for our users, hence we will put in effort to support and continue supporting official apps.

Others please chip in, am I correct in assuming that the feeling i described above is what causes people here to throw a fit, not the actual functionality beeing broken?

“Official” app means, the vendor participates in app development.
In that case, Tuya joyned Homey app development. They provided the API and Atjom developed the app.
Now they stopped API access. 🤷‍♂️

You can always get such situations where a partner stops partnership (or stops their cloud at all).
That’s no reason not to use Homey. There are other brand that are more reliable.

That’s a common misperception. According to Athom it means that:

> A verified developer badge signals to the user that the app was created by or on behalf of the brand itself **or by Athom**

So any app that Athom makes is branded “official”, even if the brand itself had no part in creating the app.

Completely agree!

It was a long awaited app. Athom was eager to point out they finally had an official app and were supporting users of the Toya platform together with Tuya.

I understand that in bèta not everything was working 100%. However opposed to the community Tuya app I would expect Athom to go through lengths to support all official apps and at least make sure it continues to work. Instead on the first bump in the road, they started piggying back. They have started this so if the road taken is blocked, I would expect them to take another road.

I feel it is unfair to blame users that went for the official app stating stuff like “You could have known with Chinese stuff like Tuya that this cannot be trusted!” This was ‘okayish’ while still using the community app. I mean: one can only expect this much of someone who is creating an app as a hobby.

However, I also read of some people (I think like yourself) basing the purchase of Homey on the official Tuya app. In theory it should be ok, but in practice it is quite a thin fundament.

Ok, so much for complaints! In thinking in solutions: I am not a Homey app developer, but I am happy to think along and test. Is there a scenario possible in which we pay a (small) fee for the community app? That way the community app can be improved with the standard disclaimers etc? Or that the community app is promoted to official app thus helping the developer?

</div>

And to add to this: not only is Tuya stuff dirt cheap, but since there are this many devices and resellers of Tuya with their own label on it, it is almost always possible to find devices that fit your preferences!

For example: I was looking for a black power plug with power metering: Tuya device found within a few minutes!
I was looking for a power plug that could handle a very brief peak of my washing machine. Tuya had it, didn’t immediately find it from other brands.

Most likely looking a bit harder for alternatives will get me there, but then I’m back at the first point: the cost.

I am seriously considering using the Tuya app and Homey side by side. But that kinda defeats one of the main reasons I got the Homey: one hub to rule them all

</div>

Everything is about tradeoffs. Buiyng something very cheap I do not expect it to last for long. It still can happen, but very unlikely. Thus, I would not expect to build robust, reliable and long living building on the cheapest breaks available. If I want to have it serving longer, I prefer to pay more. To buy more confidence and less pain below my back. Does not work 100%, but with more expensive devices (to support the topic) I have it much less than with those cheapest I have.

Keep in mind: the issue here is not the durability of the Tuya devices. I think that is a completely separate discussion.
