Hi,

Do you know what the limit is and what happens once the limit is tripped. Do you get “quarantined”, thrown out or something else?
I thought my problems had been remedied but I’m back to “daily repairs”. My cameras are quite “busy” so can imagine I’m tripping the limit but it would be good to know where the limit is in order to be able to mitigate my problems.

These limits are for cloud connected devices, camera streams are working locally and are not tied to this rate limit.

About that rate limit, its unknown when its happens. But is in on integration level not like normal on user account level. That means that is someone is really busy you cannot connect to the API too. So that is why we Integrated those boundaries in the integration.

OK, understood. But how does this effect event/alarm triggers?
I’m not worried about the streams and I don’t use them in dashboards.
I want to be able to rely on motion events(alarms) from the cameras for turning on lights, sending push messages etc. Are these events propagated “through the cloud” or the local network, i.e. how are events communicated from the camera to my Homey.
As it is now, my camera event might work flawlessly for a few days and all of a sudden they are no longer being received. In the Tapo app they always works, so it’s not a matter of events not being generated. “Repairing” the device in the Homey app always fixes the issue.

I’m having problems getting my cameras to connect fully…

I’m using the self hosted server (in docker), Currently trying the beta (13.2.0-rc.2) having already been on the stable (without success).

The cameras are all wireless & powered, they are a mixture of C210 (v1 & v2) and C320ws (v1 & v2).

The Tapo app only finds about half of my cameras (6). They add in OK and when I access them directly from the Devices tab they briefly flash “something went wrong” and then finally load a live image which can take up to 10 seconds (VLC with the same camera loads instantly).

When added to a dashboard , they add in OK, however when I try to view them through the dashboard, I get the error message “WebRTC offer failed: Not Found: 404 page not found”. If I press the play button I sometimes get a live picture.

Finally When I view the same camera on a PC I get no image at all and just the error message “Camera is Unavailable”

Neither the OnVif app nor Virtual IP app works any better with pretty much the same issues.

I also use the cameras with Frigate NVR, which works flawlessly.

I’m pretty new to Homey and feel that I’m missing something obvious as nobody seems to be having the same issue.. Can any one shed any light on how to get them working correctly?

Thanks

That’s an issue with Homey itself, you can see the 404 page not found. You should contact Athom:

Thank you for your reply, my mistake.. 🙂

I will repost in the Homey self hosted forum

A quick edit/update for anyone else having this issue even though it’s not a Tapo app error.

Just before I was about to repost in the self hosted server forum I searched for Go2RTC and found a post saying to update to the latest version. So I bashed into the docker image and checked the Go2RTC version number, which was v1.9.13. I updated it to v1.9.14. Restarted the server and clients and and both Android & PC works now. I assume this will be updated in the next release.

Thanks to smarthomesven for pointing me in the right direction… 👍

Hello everyone,

I am trying to integrate a TP-Link Tapo C260 camera into Homey Pro Mini using the official Tapo app.

Current situation:

- The camera works correctly in the Tapo app.

- ONVIF is enabled on the camera.

- RTSP/ONVIF stream works perfectly in VLC from my PC.

- Camera and Homey are on the same local network.

However, when I try to add the camera in Homey through the Tapo app, Homey does not detect/find the camera at all. It says “No cameras found on the network”

I already tried:

- rebooting Homey

- rebooting the camera

- removing and re-adding the Tapo account

- verifying ONVIF and RTSP functionality

Is the Tapo C260 officially supported by the Homey Tapo app?
Has anyone managed to get this specific model working correctly?

I am also wondering if the issue could be related to:

- unsupported/new model

- API compatibility

- cloud discovery limitations

- local network discovery issues

Any help or confirmation would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Any idea on how we can get energy readings (daily totals) in Homey Energy tab again with the P110 and P115? This used to work great but since a few months not anymore. Third party access is enabled in the Tapo app and have re-added the plugs (and reinstalled the tapo app in Homey) a few times but no luck.

Hi @koktail,
I’m experiencing a local connection issue with the Tapo P115.

I have a Homey Pro mini running Homey OS 13.4.0 with the Tapo app v2.1.16.
My setup:
Homey Pro mini
Homey OS 13.4.0
Tapo app 2.1.16
4 × Tapo P115 (firmware 1.4.6)
Ziggo SmartWifi network
All devices are on the same subnet (192.168.178.x)
Local API is enabled in the Tapo app.
IP and MAC addresses are correct and match those shown by my Ziggo router.
The plugs can only connect through Cloud.
If I manually change the connection type to Local, Homey immediately shows “Not available”.
Because of this:
Switching works correctly through the cloud.
No live power values are received.
“Power”, “Energy Today” and “Total Energy” remain unknown in Homey Energy.

I have already tried:
Enabling/disabling Local API.
Restarting the Homey Tapo app.
Rebooting the plugs.
Removing and re-adding the plugs.
Adding the plugs through the Homey web interface (Android app login did not complete correctly).
All four P115s show exactly the same behaviour.
One additional observation: Immediately after adding a new P115, Homey briefly recognised it as an energy device, but after a few minutes it reverted to a normal switch and the energy options disappeared.

The TAPO app on my phone shows energy values.
Is this a known issue with firmware 1.4.6 or Homey OS 13.4.0?

Hi @Koktail

Thanks for the great app! I’m using it exclusively with cameras and haven’t had any issues.

I do have one question and a feature request. At the moment, the only flow triggers available for the cameras are the various “motion alarm” triggers.

My C120 cameras support motion, person, pet, vehicle, and line crossing detection, while my C216 cameras support motion and person detection. Would it be possible to add trigger cards for these individual detection events as well?

Thanks!

Alex
