I’ve been working on an app that shows the dashboards you build in the Homey app in a web browser on your home network. I use it on a tablet on the wall; it should also work on a laptop or a TV.

> **Proof of concept.** It works on my Homey and is available as a test version (test versions aren’t reviewed by Athom). It uses parts of the Homey Web API that aren’t documented (dashboards, moods and camera streams), so I’m not sure Athom will accept it for the regular App Store like this, and a firmware update could break it.

### What it does

- Shows the dashboards you made in the Homey app and updates them live. You switch dashboards by tapping the name at the top.
- Supports the built-in widget types I know of: favorite and selected devices, Flows and moods; a zone’s devices, moods and lights; lights, speakers, thermostats, energy, Insights charts, sensors, zone controls, the timeline, batteries and low batteries, weather, variables, notes, camera snapshots and live cameras, web pages and dashboard shortcuts.
- Widgets from other apps work too. They run in a sandbox, so they can’t read the API key.
- Tapping a device opens its controls: on/off, dim, colour and white temperature, blinds, the thermostat dial and locks.
- Live camera video uses Homey’s built-in stream conversion.
- Light and dark mode follow your device.
- Browsers don’t need their own API key. You save one key in the app’s settings, a new browser shows a code, and you approve it in the Homey app. The settings page also checks the key and lists permissions that are missing or broader than needed.
- There’s a kiosk mode for wall tablets: it stays on one dashboard, goes back to it after two minutes without a touch, and unlocking it needs an approval in the Homey app. On an iPad you can add it to the home screen to hide Safari’s address bar.

The page is served by the Homey itself, so there’s no separate server to run.

### Limitations

- Needs a Homey Pro on firmware 13. I’ve only tested it on a Homey Pro (Early 2023) with 13.5.3. It doesn’t work with Homey Cloud.
- Only works on your home network (it uses the `*.homey.homeylocal.com` address), no remote access.
- You still build and edit dashboards in the Homey app.
- Some device controls are missing: mode pickers (fan speed, for example), buttons (like “open lock”), and the sensor, battery and media tabs.
- I couldn’t test the dynamic electricity prices widget because Athom still does not provide them for Austria…
- Web pages that don’t allow embedding (Google, for example) stay blank.
- All paired browsers share one API key. You can sign out a single browser on that browser; signing out all of them means replacing the key.
- Whether the screen stays on depends on the browser. On an iPad, set Auto-Lock to Never.
- English only.

### Trying it

Test version: [Web Dashboard | Homey](https://homey.app/en-at/app/dev.schweiger.dashboard/Web-Dashboard/test/)

After installing, open the app’s settings in the Homey app, create the API key as described there and open the address it shows.

If something breaks on your setup or a widget looks different from the Homey app, let me know here or open an issue. Side-by-side screenshots help.

This app sounds great! I am running Homey on 13.5.3 (Homey Pro - Early 2023) but I seem to lack the Dashboards or Energy scopes option in the API key configuration. Is there any other requirement for these to show up?

**Edit:** Fixed it. Those scopes are actually hidden from the API form but with some tweaking I have added the missing scopes `homey.dashboard.readonly` and `homey.energy.readonly`.

This is really awesome!

Yeah you got me there didn’t check that they are not in the UI to be honest 😅 So for people using the UI they need to use a key with full access.

No worries, figured it out pretty quickly. I do wonder: now that you’ve shown it can be done with these partly hidden APIs, is Athom actually working on building a web dashboard view like this themselves? Again, I love this app, thanks! I can finally ditch BlueStacks.
